On Thursday morning, I left Saskatoon at -25C, and drove to Edmonton, which is 5 hours north west of here. It was -2C and raining when I arrived, got up to +2, stayed there till Friday morning. -20C when we left there at 3pm Saturday, worked its way down to -25C by the time we got home. With windchill, well below -40. Its now -32C, and still breezy.
The point of the story? 1- Goodyear ultra grip ice radials allowed me to drive past at least 30 cars in the ditch, including a couple that were upside down. 2- Heated seats are the cats pyjamas. 3- Always remember when you have a ground drift that it might stick to the passing lane. I think the guy upside down on the way back will remember that now. I'm sure the rescue guys I saw freezing their sack to their legs will point it out to him.
Its 30*f here right now, supposed to be more like 0 by tomorrow night. With plenty of wet snow up until then. I love my just barely broken in set of General Altimax Artics, German made Swedish snow tires, so you know they're good.
It was 53° here today, "they" say it will get down to 9° tomorrow night.
BRRRRR!
The weather powers are saying 15 deg F here tomorrow night. Asheville will see something in the minus single digits. Damn dat is cold.
It was -15°F at times on Friday in Massachusetts. Today it got as warm as 35°! Tomorrow is supposed to get over 50°, then back down to 15° on Tuesday.

We have between 2 and 24 inches of snow on the ground (drifting) and the alley behind the garage hasn't been plowed, nor has the street, nor have any of the streets around us. It is really cold (don't know how cold though) and I'm really hoping they cancel work tomorrow. Almost no chance of me making it there, but I'll try if it is not cancelled.
I'm thinking about going on an excursion around the alley looking for "firewood"--any dead limbs that haven't been picked up by the city yet. We haven't bought any firewood (only been in the house a month) and it is cold. Would definitely be nice to get the fire going.
EDIT: And after taking a closer look at the fireplace insert, I think that we should hold off on any fires in here until it gets the OK from the Landlord at least.
It was 30 F here (Chicago) yesterday. Tomorrow the high is -13 F (-43 with wind chill). On the plus side, the office computer voice thing (it's like getting a call from Stephen Hawking) just called and said the office is closed tomorrow. I'm sure I could have made it, but I greatly prefer not having to try.
This morning was really great - 33 with a - 50 windchill. For our American friends that's - 27.5 and - 58. Suppose to warm up tomorrow to - 23,which is great because I get to go work outside. :-|

Similar situation here in Peoria/Bloomington. Work has not been cancelled yet, but I'm really hoping it will be. At these temperatures, it really is a safety concern, especially for those who have to drive from out of town.

Same here, we've been having a lot of -25 to -30 days here in Ottawa and the Ultra Grip Ice are terrific. The heated seats help a lot too!

Weather confuses the guy, can you blame him? Take a look at his username!
Local EMA weather report
Major winter storm continues to hit the area. Snowfall has ranged from 6 inches in Van Wert to a foot over just west of Ft Wayne. This is in addition to the 5 inches we received several days ago so Van Wert has 11 inches on the ground. Snow should continue through 11:00pm with 4 additional inches expected in Van Wert. Winds will increase tonight 25 to 35mph creating serious blowing & drifting of snow. Luckily it is a wet snow so won't blow as bad had it been a powdery snow. Temperatures will begin dropping all night to minus -9 by morning and continue to drop all day to minus -20 tomorrow night. Winds on Monday of 20 to 35mph will create additional blowing & drifting and will give us windchills of minus -35 to minus -45 through Tuesday morning. These temperatures the next several days will be life threatening. Do not get caught outside or stranded in a vehicle. Stay inside if you do not have to go out.

Wet snow drifts if the wind is strong enough........oh, and I'm snowed in.
36f right now in MS. Tomorrow and Tuesday will be our bitterly cold days.

Long time stalker first time exhibitionist. Thanks for the welcome. I know streetwiseguy so I felt I should comment.

It was in the 70s here, I drove the Miata with the top down.
They're actually backing off the projected lows here, to a mere -5 to -10 with windchills another 10 to 20 degrees below that. I've also had the fun experience of shoveling my driveway 4 times in the past 24 hours. The snow piles from shoveling it are about 6 feet tall in some places.
Everything is shut down here in east-central IL. The highway department has pulled in the snow plows because it's too dangerous, all the highways are closed, and even the gas station in town(which is a bit weird, since a few of their employees live ~1/2-block away).
Our power flickered about half a dozen times, then went out for about 1/2-hour. I'd considered picking up a generator Friday just in case, but honestly I'm glad I didn't. I'm not sure I could keep the snow off it long enough to keep it running! Besides, with the gas station closed I'd realistically only have fuel for about a day. I'm thinking a permanent natural gas whole-house unit may be an eventual investment.
Damn. The forecast has changed to 13 deg Monday night, 17 deg Tuesday. Around here that's, like, horrible man. Today the high was about 50. (stifles global warming jokes, except this one)
Ran the snowblower Saturday to clean up the New Years day snow. Ran it this morning with about 6" and again with 4" around 5 o'clock. Southeast MI.
Not looking forward to the super cold next couple of days...

And the largest insurance company in the central Illinois area is closed for tomorrow. Yours truly is pretty happy about that.
On the natural gas option, you might be able to do a methane-well. I know a few folks in the Farmer City area do it.
It got to 83°F here today but the low tomorrow is supposed to be 33°F. I won't complain (too much ).
I do worry about my kids though. They live in Rockford, IL with my ex. She drives a late '90s Durango with no heat and broken 4wd. I always worry about them when the weather is crappy (which is like 3/4 of the year up there).
