I haven't voted for an incumbent in 15 years or so. Sometimes I've had to hold my nose to vote for the challenger.
One problem in voting for either candidate is that the challenger is often already in politics in a lesser capacity.
I think we'd be as well off or better off if we could just pick a random name from a phone book & install said person in office.
I go by the Douglas Adams method of choosing a president.
