Live music all the time at local restaurants where I live.

Best semi recent "event" was Sept 2021 pilgrimage festival in Franklin TN. Hope to do it again.

In reply to Peabody :

I was never a huge fan but they were touring together and I wanted to see The Tea Party (for the third time).

I Mother Earth did a great job, I recognized most of the hits they played. The lead singer had a cold or something but he still belted it out and put on a good show. It was the original lead singer, drummer and lead guitar player plus some studio musicians. The bass player they brought along was having the time of his life by the looks of it.

The Tea Party was the original three guys and they put on a great show as always. They're all still incredible musicians and I don't think the band would sound right if it weren't those three guys together. They covered a couple Tragically Hip songs really well too.

Jeff Martin was talking to the crowd about all the great bands who've come out of Canada and someone shouted "Nickleback!". Pause.. Smirk... "Sure, OK". Big laughs.

Had the best time at a show in quite a while.

We saw Corb Lund about 6 years ago on a solo gig. He's a great storyteller. If he tours with Hayes Carll, I'll be sure to go.

I dated a Canadian lady that dated Jeff Martin in the late 90s. She threw out the Tea Party like I should know who they were and I had zero clue.im guessing way bigger in Canada than the US.  I knew about the Tragically Hip but never heard of the Tea Party then purposely avoided them after that lol.

Nobody in our house was really a fan of The Tea Party, but my oldest son saw them with some other bands and said it was a great show, and he had a new respect for them

Last time out was May 2023 when I saw Band-Maid in Charlotte. General admission, VIP and being a six-footer meant a great view five or six rows from the stage. The girls have so much fun playing music, and they haven't put out a clunker song yet in ten years. When they tour again I'll absolutely see them again.

Funny you mention being tall.

I was out with my friends at a bar seeing Yonder Mountain and they ripped into a bluegrass cover of a Misfits song. I stood up for the first time in a long time and my buddy was all WTF you are tall. I am 6'2" and all my friends are 5'10" or less for the most part so I guess I slouch.

Sadly I have not seen live music in too long.

While it plays heavily into nostalgia, I just bought tickets to see the Classic Rock Show in Reading PA next month. Partly because I've seen enough YouTube videos to know they put on a good show, and partly because I am hoping to finally meet Pete Thorn who is a YouTuber guitarist I've followed for many years.

I saw the Brothers Osborne last October at Pier 17 in Manhattan. They put on a fun show, and the venue is on a rooftop near the Brooklyn Bridge. I enjoyed it a lot more than I expected to. We've seen a bunch of comedy since but don't have another concert planned until June when I finally get to see George Strait.

I saw N.Flying (Kpop band) in January 2023 and it was another general admission show. I'd say half the crowd was short Asian girls and I felt like a GIANT.

My music tastes are all over the map... Last concert was Pantera and Lamb Of God for my 40th birthday, outdoors in the pouring rain.  It was a fun and unique experience.

We have a lot of concerts booked this year, but I'm most excited for Guster with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra at Red Rocks, which is for sure a bucket list trip for me.

Last year I saw They Might Be Giants at a standing general admission venue in Covington KY.  I swear the average attendee was 6'6" or better.  I felt like an absolute midget.

Saw Front Line Assembly/Gary Numan/Ministry in Orlando last Saturday. GRM superfan Matthew Setzer is playing guitar on the road for FLA, so we got a chance to hang a bit and he hooked me up with a photo pass. First time I've ever shot live music and, dang, it is a challenge. I have an immense respect for anyone who does this for a living, and especially anyone who did this in the film days.

Catch this tour if you're at all interested in any of these bands. They're all absolutely at the top of their game right now.

And if you catch Matthew hanging out after the FLA set he might hook you up with one of these if he has any left.

I just (like just) got home from seeing the Alex Skolnick Trio. (Don’t tell my mom, but it’s like 3:00 in the morning.)

If you’re into metal, you might know him as the guitarist for Testament. He also does jazz–and very, very well.

Tonight’s show was at Main Drag Music–like downstairs near the boiler. Cool venue and rather intimate. (This was shot with a 50mm lens, and I could have gotten even closer.)
