So Kazoo Jr. comes home last night and tells me he took a "career aptitude test" in social studies. His recommended career . . .
Stunt man.
I pretended to be incensed for the sake of SWMBO, but I'm not gonna lie, on the inside, I was smiling from ear to ear.
You have succeeded as a father.
"Fall Guy!" Loved that show.... loved the truck even more.

I hate those tests. Teachers think they're so funny saying "The world needs ditch diggers too, Danny." I failed an aptitude test. Obviously I've seen Caddyshack.

8th. I'm sure it was more of a novelty than a serious career assessment.

Man, your kid did well. In 8th grade, my career aptitude test said if I would only apply myself I could one day aspire to be a homeless person.
Mine back then gave me the choice between garbage collector and mortician
Good kid there.
My aptitude test said Social Worker and I'm a Pipe Fitter/ Stationary Engineer. A sweetie in HS got stone mason, she never pursued that btw.
Dunno if stunt man was even on the list back then.
I think mine said engineer. Pretty awesome because, you know, trains. Then I learned that there was more than one kind of engineer. Then I went to college and learned there are a whole bunch of kinds of engineers. No wonder kids are confused. Stunt man seems much more straight forward.
Fall guy! I haven't watched that in ages! Off to search Netflix...
Perhaps certain industries forsee a shortage of qualified applicants, so they are seeding these tests with career choices to drive fresh meat their way in a few years LOL. The great stuntman shortage of 2020 must be avoided!
Not a bad career. I did a little looking into it before, if you want to be a stuntman you have to start young, spend a fair bit on training, and you have to live within driving distance of Hollywood to actually get any work until you've made a name for yourself.
I never did any career aptitude test, I guess it's not very helpful by me because most people will fall into either "broke-ass career-nomad" or "nepotism beneficiary"

Good for you. Mine was Heather Thomas first and then the truck.

That's why I never graduated. After three semesters I realized there would be no trains so I ran off and joined the circus.

I'm wondering with all the CGI being used in movies these days, is the demand for stuntpeople still as strong as it used to be even a decade ago?

For now at least, the backlash against the amount of CGI must be increasing the demand for stunt work.
