ZZ Top - Tejas (1976) Full Album love these tracks
Best Coast--California Nights is kicking my butt today--especially when it kicks in at 1:18
The lyrics are still pretty simplistic as usual, but musically, a quantum leap happened with the big, cavernous, shoegazey guitars that make for a massive sounding song. It sounds like a preview of the warm days that are just around the corner.
Stevie Ray Vaughn: Texas Flood
The famous long version recorded live at the El Mocambo in Toronto, 1983. Best version of this song and SRV at his best technically and artistically. Blues rule!
The Doors: LA Woman, Roadhouse Blues, and the dirty version of Gloria
My backyard is covered with a couple feet of accumulated snow. The ambient temp is around 25 degrees F. My dd '98 Contour SVT is in the shade in the driveway and the doors (lower case) are frozen shut. But I have a south-facing deck on the rear of the house, and this time of winter the sun is very warm, so my deck at noon was 65 degrees (big difference between the deck and the driveway). I set up a folding chair, small table, my iPhone and Bluetooth speaker, popped open a beer, and grabbed a few Doors songs off YouTube. Felt like Spring. Retirement is great! I'm a big fan of Jim Morrison. My wife and I are going to Paris for a week in early May and I plan to find his grave there ... just for the hell of it and because I can.

I remember their keyboard player coming off as a bit standoffish back in their prime (mid-90's). Like some hipster chick who wouldn't want to give me the time of day.
She was cute, though. It was good that tight t-shirts were back in style by then.
The opening/main riff of this song is straight-up Keith Richards--which is a good thing.
I've had Foo Fighters new album, Sonic Highways on repeat in my car for the last month or so. Such a good layered record. It is one of those albums you hear something new every time you listen to it.
Dave Matthews Band: Time of the Season, from "Weekend on the Rocks," recorded live at the Red Rock Amphitheater, Colorado, Sept. 2005.
I'm not a big fan of the Dave Mathews Band, but I do like the way they cover this old Zombies song from 1968. The original Zombies version is one of my own personal favorite top 100 songs.
Sitting in the Dr's waiting room, listening to Muzak playing a slow, easy-listening piano version of "White Wedding."
Al Stewart's "Past, Present and Future," an brilliant album featuring the spookily haunting "Roads to Moscow."
CSB: I read this thread (http://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/off-topic-discussion/go-see-a-really-messed-up-band/99680/page1/) and realized I had heard of Daikaiju before, but could not remember where. Then I read the video comments and remembered it was the BGM in a fighting game combo video. That video references an Internet meme, ZA WARUDO!!! I Interwebz way too much...

That whole first album, Farewell to Monster Island, is solid gold as far as I am concerned.
