Skinny, hungry and at the top of their considerable game. Fresh from hundreds of gigs in punk clubs in the UK and europe and they still hadn't washed off the grime of cutting their teeth at CBGB's. A much harder edged and rocking, neo-punk version of the Stray Cats.
I have to say the most impressive member is Slim Jim Phantom. An hour and a half bouncing on one foot, barking and screaming and pounding his skinny butt off.
The fellas angrily shouting at the sound man in the middle of the song is pure gold.
In contrast their 1983 appearance on Rockpalast, while great is more sedate and polished. Less frenetic and less appealing to me. Get that sax player off the stage! This isn't Saturday night live.
