I'm on an 80's retro binge right now. I need some sorta turbo car with t-tops to go blasting around with this blazing out the speakers.

One of my favorite songs and albums. This was the first solo album of his that I bought. I really need to see him live and since none of us are getting any younger I need to do it sooner rather than later.
Dang, he hasn't toured in 2 years. Gotta do it next time he tours. Missed the last Rush tour and there probably won't ever be another.
The wife and I went to see Halestorm at the county fair over the weekend. Wow, that chick can belt it out and a hell of a rock voice!

I'm extremely fortunate that my 41-year-old son likes a lot of the same music as me. So he's a big fan of Mark Knopfler too (and the Kinks, the Zombies, the Animals, PF, SRV, etc., etc., etc.) We have a plan to travel wherever necessary in the U.S. to catch Mark Knopfler's next tour. Or maybe somewhere outside the U.S if need be. Maybe we'll see you there, my friend!
(Gotta catch Mark before he ends up like Eric, which in itself is a damn shame).
In reply to Gary:
I would enjoy the opportunity to meet up and see Mark with you & your son, not sure SWMBO would be all that excited about the show, but she's usually up for travel and can "suffer" through a few hours of melancholy music. If you hear about a tour let me know. I don't get PM's here because I'm a yahoo...but you can email me at the cap letters...November Alpha November November Echo Yankee Sierra at yahoo dot com.
Currently listening to some Chickenfoot

This is a pretty good (and interesting) version of a classic PF song. Obviously David Gilmour proves that he is the leading artist of the group. And Richard Wright is on keyboards. But this performance is one person short of the PF nucleus, and that would be Nick Mason on percussion. He's not there. But the interesting twist is David Crosby and Graham Nash on back-up vocals. And occasional PF sax player Dick Parry easily transitioning from baritone to tenor sax. Great stuff! And the Royal Albert Hall venue is superb as well. A well-done performance and video.
Rancid just left the stage. Dropkick Murphy's are getting ready to take it, then they'll be together for the encore.
If it wasn't for all these "punks" throwing punches in the mosh pit, it would be an awesome show.
SO HAPPY ABOUT THE GRM live feeed Challenge I cannot wait to Beat Mike Cornish and Charlie GRM Challenge Unknown Hinson - I Cleaned Out a Room (In my Trailer for You)
K. that's an impressive URL.
(Incidentally, I really like Unknown and only know about him because of your posts here. Thank you. That's what this thread is all about).
This is something that was recently recommended to me by a friend. It's different, but not bad. I will listen to more of it:
It's Euro/Scandinavian contemporary techno jazz ... which seems weird by description. But at first listen, I'm interested.
No doubt, it's the polar opposite of Unknown Simpson (a favorite of mine, thanks to Karl). But that's OK. My personal musical tastes are extremely varied. So I think I like this too. Maybe the female vocalist is trying to sound like Madeleine Peyroux. But there's also some clarinet here. I really like jazz clarinet. Sort of 30's-ish American jazz or more contemporary Paris cafe music (but without an accordian, which isn't present here).
I'm a big fan of The Doors. Great talent. But it's unfortunate that the main man who had the greatest talent was such a jackazz-azzo-jagov-zhithead. (I visited his grave in Paris. Shame on me. It was the whole "looking at a car wreck" thing I guess. What a journey for Morrison, from his start in Venice Beach L.A. to his end in Paris. It still astounds me that his grave has the most visitors considering who else is buried in that cemetery).
Bonus track: L.A. Woman
In my opinion, other than Jim Morrisons's overwhelming vocal talent, John Densmore's percussion on L.A. Woman is spectacular, a bit like Nick Mason's work with PF.
(I won't post Jim Morrison's version of Van Morrison's "Gloria" performed at the Whiskey A-Go-Go on Sunset Blvd. L.A. in the summer of '66. It's an interesting but somewhat vulgar adaptation. It's out there if you're interested).
