No kid duty, got a truck/dog hauler, have track toys. Commuting, road trip duty and maybe an autocross 1-2x year. Thinking around 20-23k It doesn't have to see snow. So I'm thinking along the lines of e46 m3, Cayman S or older ac 911 - what else (btw Mrs. Oldtin hates corvettes)?

Sounds like something a bit more comfortable is in order. Maybe a Jag XK?

You should find 05-07 mustang Gt500s in that price range now. Big enough to be comfortable on the highway, maybe not as competitive in stock form at the autox as a p car. Not a slouch, though, and a crap load of fun.

C5 zo6?

If you're not worried about maintenance costs, how about an older M5?

I think the E46 M3 will suit you well. You've had porsches in the past though haven't you?

C5 Z06 is the only other alternative I would suggest aside from E46 M3.
