First time using this finish nailer and I'm not having much success. When I first fired it I was shooting blanks (happens to the best of us) but at least it sounded like it was working. Then I loaded the nails and it appears something jammed up. Now when I squeeze the trigger air escapes through the trigger but it's not actually firing. I took apart the rear plunger/piston area and everything seems fine. Same with the clasp on top to clear jammed nails. I can't dissassemble the trigger assembly which is where I believe my problem is. Any idea what I am doing wrong?

Not sure if this has audio:

Video won't play for me due to my crappy signal strength at the moment. First thought is are you using the brand & size nails recommended for that model gun?

It won’t fire unless you have pressure on the foot. Did you put the nails in upside down. Not sure if that’s possible. Have to check mine.

It’s Definitely not going to fire with the nose disassembled like that.

Must be fully assembled with the foot depressed again something before will fire.

Most likely you used the wrong nails.

Don’t mean to be “that guy”, but did you read the instructions?

The gun is going to require specific nails, specific gauge, and a specific range of air pressure. They are often shipped with shipping materials that disable them from firing.

And they won’t fire with no nails in them.

If the drive pin (plunger) is in the extended position, you will need to remove the air pressure and manually push it all the way back into the head, probably using a screw driver.

The least expensive generic nails probably won’t work. The package is gonna have to say “Porter Cable” on it.

No instruction manual but air pressure and nails are good. Nose was disassembled when I was trying to figure out what was wrong but it would not fire with it open or closed. Foot depressed  or not air was still leaking from the trigger when I pulled it.

I ended up disassembling the whole thing. Trigger assembly and all. I never could figure out what was wrong with it. I'm not sure what's going on inside the handle but it seems like air is escaping by the trigger instead of going into the chamber. Ended up exchanging it at home depot and the new one works like a champ.
