It's about 3 minutes from my office and 10 minutes from the campus of University of Rochester and maybe 15 from RIT. Not open at night anymore sadly - back in the 80s and early 90s in addition to the food there was pretty much anything else you wanted available from the dealers and whores who ate on one side, the college kids ate on the other side. www.youtube.com/watch?v=F2TjnY-gAdk&feature=youtube_gdata_player Second choice - Mighty Taco, Buffalo. 2 Mighties, soft shell, hot, chips and cheese, large loganberry. 4-6 nights a week senior year of high school and that summer before college. Used to be $3.65, now about $7.
Heh, i've had the Garbage Plate.

Oh man, I grew up about 70 miles south of Buffalo, and have family both there and Rochester. Like the garbage plate, but I really miss Mighty Taco. I've eaten that exact same meal countless times, right down to the loganberry. I really miss Ted's Hot Dogs too. Footlong and onion rings. I've half a mind to jump in my car and hit the highway right now.
In reply to The_Pirate:
Mmmm Ted's is yummy too, as is Anderson's beef on weck, but neither one is a late night food.

Sup man. Fancy meeting you here
After I've had a few, I can't say no to a Wendy's triple cheeseburger, biggie fries, chocolate frosty... and the next morning I crave a half gallon of orange juice.

Haha, know who you are now. The Sonoma gave it away. What's up, man?

Yeah, the Sonoma just won't die. It's a stubborn old thing. I'm still in college trying to be an automotive engineer, and all that. Looking to get my CDL pretty soon to make some extra money. That will mean plenty of late nights looking for food. Truck stops are usually good for that... but I'd probably be better off packing my own sandwiches.

The right answer, but they come in sacks of 10 for a reason. If i 'm going to screw up my sleep I'm really screwing it up.
For second place I'll go for something off of a truck, preferably where no english is being spoken.
Early college years it was roppollos on 6th, later on I was introduced to best wurst. Man, I still crave it after a night out. Brat, sauerkraut, mustard and grilled onions. Mmmmmmm
The gold standard for me is the texas chili cheese burger, fries with gravy and strong coffee. Available from just about any greasy spoon diner in PA/NJ/NY.
Back in my band days, after a show we always seemed to end up a Denny's @ 2am. When the one we went to closed, it brought a nostalgic tear to my eye.
7-11 Beef and bean burrito. It's like sleeping with an ugly chick--you hate yourself in the morning.

Yes, the classic "Moons over My Hammy"

Because there's 'want' and then there's 'reality'...
I suppose I should have clarified... I played in a straight-edge band back then... so we were never drunk @ Denny's anyway.

Logistics are difficult, of course, but even now I can't get even the least bit buzzed without hankering for that magical pie.
