SLAB, ok. Swangin', Shut-down,nor whatever the hell they call the super obnoxious driving thing they do in the Slabs, not so ok.

I will have a Sour Patch Kids donk in my post-lotto garage. Ideally with an EV conversion of some sort.
I've seen some pretty sketchy homemade lifts for them, I assume by now aftermarket has picked them up.
I'm sure the Donk crowd wonders why we build weird cars for pocket change too. Not my thing but I also consider the McRib to be the absolute worst "food" ever conceived and there's obviously fans there
I love Donks, and Stance, and Bro-dozer Coal Rollers and all manner of automotive lunacy. Just drive sensibly and don't be making any noise up in my 'hood and we're good!
Inconsiderate people suck.
I hate donks. Why you say? Because tire companies will make those absurd rubber bands up to extreme diameters, but they won't make one decent 13 inch tire.

I'll stop you at coal rollers. Those "bros" are a bit part of the clamp on tuning.
If your car interest doesn't effect me or my safety riding next to you, I don't really care what you do. I hate donks.
Have you ever seen what happens to the suspension when they hit a bump? Nothing. They have no suspension. Suspension isn't just for your comfort, it's for your safety as well. Massive forces being transferred with no absorption or damping is a recipe for disaster.
Reason two. The same reason I hate lifted trucks. Getting rear ended at 35mph sucked, but the collision was less becuase of the bumpers. If your bumper is 18 inches above my bumper, it's gonna suck a lot worse.
There is a specific name for this culture that is different than what you posted. Spacecadet to the courtesy phone plz.
Edit: I see, the two go together.
Swangas is the name for those wheels
Re: Donks, like most auto enthusiast practices, they arent my cup of tea, but I don't really care. Just like in other areas of automotive world, there are some standout shiny happy people that are doing everything they can to piss everyone else off. I don't like those people.
Provided it isn't a safety hazard on the road next to me and isn't annoying me somehow, I don't care what someone is driving.
Not my bag, but it doesn't have to be.

From friends in the tire biz: If there was a market for 13-inch tires, the industry would fill it....

I would argue there is still a market for 13" tires... but part of the problem is that market was so used to really cheap 13" tires they are not willing to pay for what a limited production quality tire will cost. A couple of years ago I tried to get a gauge on a Spitfire forum how much folks would be willing to pay for a reissue version of the BFG T/A in 175/70-13 (not the greatest tire ever made, but appropriate performance for a Spitfire) and was pretty much laughed at. A quality tire isn't going to cost $50.

Yes, true, very good point regarding price. That's the PS of that conversation.
I have been lobbying for good, 13- and 14-inch tires for years, but it's always the same answer from the companies: not enough demand, and those who need them, don't want to pay for them.
Like you said, a quality tire isn't going to cost $50.
Sorry for the threadjack, too.

I would gladly pay $100+ for a GOOD tire. Even Vredenstein is dropping some of their sizes of classic tires. The manufacturers probably made 600,000+, Spitfires, Midgets and Fiats that need tires. I've only seen a handful of cars on the super tall donk tires.
In reply to spitfirebill :
I feel the same. Probably $150 for a BFG T/A.
Unfortunately, we seem to be in the minority of Spitfire owners...
Curtis73 (Forum Supporter) said:Things like big wingz, donks, fart cans, stances, or other things designed to just LOOK a certain way while killing usefulness or performance isn't my bag of chips. I put donks in the same basic category of plywood hood scoops on a K-car.
I put donks in a different category from those other trends.
Big wingz, fart cans, stance, rolling coal, and fake scoops are designed to make car look or sounds like it has more performance while either doing nothing or actually degrading performance.
Donks are about achieving their own unique overtly pure aesthetic style. But they are not trying to pretend to be something they are not. They are pure Form displaying pure Form, not Form masquerading as Function.
I personally prefer form that follows Function, but that's me.
I thought the Donk trend was over. I live in Atlanta and hardly ever see them anymore. I see WAY more Chargers/Challengers on huge wheels but no lift. I do see more pavement princess Jeeps with huge rims and rubber band tires, but only a mild lift.
In reply to Beer Baron :
As art, I can see how some like them, but I disagree that it's pure form. It's form that degrades function which is why I wouldn't do it. I put Donks and Bubbles in the same category as truck nutz. All show, no benefit, and (to me) a waste of money.
It's like selecting a statue to put in a foyer. I would select something [that I think is] appealing to my own personal taste, like a tree or a Grecian figure. Donking a car is like choosing the statue of a penis and hairy testicles. I just don't see how it has any appeal, according to my personal taste. To them, it's a beautiful testament to something they believe in, and I celebrate that they have created their own art. To me, it's just an ugly statue that takes away from the aesthetic.
It's the same reason I don't have a Model T. Worthy of saving, has a fantastic place in our vehicular history, and I appreciate the fact that it's worthy of saving, it's just not my taste. I would rather save a muscle car because it's what I like. I'm glad that 70s and 80s cars are being loved up into donks instead of scrapped, I just think it ruins them... in both looks and function.
In reply to Curtis73 (Forum Supporter) :
I agree with you (mostly). It's not my style. It degrades performance and ride quality which I value above style. (I wouldn't go so far as to liken it to a giant penis statue - but maybe a flashing neon Las Vegas sign.)
What I'm saying is Donks and Bubbles are not not pretend to be anything other than what they are.
Stancing a car and similar trends are meant to make the car look like its added performance while actually having degraded it. You've made your car worse at what you want people to think it's better at.
Stancing a car or other performance aping mods are like someone getting implants to look like they're more muscular than they are. But the implants get in the way, so it's actually harder for that person to pick up and move a couch.
A donk is like someone growing really long fingernails that are painted and bejeweled. To me, those look like they're just going to get in the way and make it harder to do the basic tasks I use my hands for. They're also going to have a harder time picking up and moving a couch. However, they're not pretending that they're better at moving a couch like the person with fake muscles is.
