That was supposed to be a question mark in the title. Windows 8, and every now and then it pitches a fit and starts speaking Spanish. ÉÙO¨ etc. I presume Ièm accidentally hitting two keys, but canèt figure out which. Restart, and its fine.

Being in Canada, when I install Windows it sets up the potential for a Canadian keyboard. This allows me to type English or French.
I found that somehow in my super-fast two-fingered typing, I did some kind of key stroke that switched the keyboard to French.
The fix was to disable the multilingual keyboard.
My guess is you have the same, but being in the states, it's English and Spanish.

Go into the Control Panel > Clock, Language, and Region > Change keyboards and other input methods
Click the Change Keyboards button. Delete the French Canadian Keyboard. You don't need it.
