Ok, we have a wall mounted DynaGlo propane heater in her garage bay. We have a 3 car attached garage but there is a wall with a door between her bay(bay 1) and my 2 bays(bays 2 & 3). This past weekend I needed to work all day on Sunday in bay 2 installing tracks on the skidsteer. I turned the heater up to #3 on the dial(it goes 1 to 5) and put a small fan in the doorway to hopefully blow some warm air over to my side. Within an hour and a half it was 68* on her side and 61* in bay 2. I went out with a t-shirt, long sleeve insulated top and a long sleeve mock turtleneck. Within 15 minutes off came the turtleneck and after an hour of wrestling/struggling with the tracks and sweating, I was down to a t-shirt. It works incredibly well. It's a non-vented unit and when the knob is on #1 it keeps her bay at 51-55* all winter long. My side always stays 10-12* cooler but I've never placed a fan in the doorway before. Since there are gaps around the garage door rubber trim, I don't worry about any "make-up air". I have also never experienced and condensation on surfaces as I've been told will happen.
If I had a 2-car garage and wanted a quick and easy solution which required no construction or exhaust holes in the walls, I would certainly do this again.

I've got this one, it uses propane and the fan runs on the same batteries as my 18v cordless tools or plugged into 110v:
Rigid heater
I haven't tried using it to warm my garage, but have used it with tarps on battery power with good results.

The get me up to 50
Uses a ton of propane, it does eat up the o2 also.
The keeps me there most of the time.
5kw diesel. Have more exhaust pipe coming to extract more heat as the exchanger does not seem to be the most efficient. Will make a loop with the 4 feet of tube coming, enclose it and use a small fan to pass air over it. Close inspection you will notice a computer fan below the battery to get a bit of heat now fron the limited exhaust pipe there is now.
Yea, there is a wood stove also. I do use it when in the garage all day. Not worth firing for a couple hours.
Mostly uninsulated 2 car garage.

Thinking of buying this guy.

Run away? Seems cheap for the BTUs.
Well, I bought it, and used it for about a half hour.
The pros:
It's smaller than most salamanders. It's about the size and shape of my 110v MIG welder.
It doesn't really smell. Score one for Hank Hill.
It was $99.
The fan is fairly powerful, making box lids flap from six feet away. This recirculates the heated air in a hurry.
The cons:
The electrical is always-on, so you have to turn it on and off either with a switched wall outlet, or unplugging the 6" long cord. I bought a 10' extension cord.
It is open flame. Even with the heater on max, the flame doesn't exit the tube, but I'd still be careful about positioning.
The fan speed means you never get HEAT like you'd need to thaw your hands. The air coming out is lukewarm, not hot, on low temp. Did not run on high for very long, because was spooked by the open flame.
The neutral:
It's not quiet. It's quieter than most salamanders but between the fan (I hate fan noise) and the constantly buzzing ignitor, you probably aren't going to hold any light conversation around it. I figure it's fairly quiet for the heat provided.
I have one of these, not this brand, but I am sure they are all made in China in the same factory. It hooks up to a propane tank, and for a 2-car garage it works really well. It's loud, but it really heats up my space. My garage has an 8' ceiling though, so its not the same as a large barn space, YMMV. I love it and use it all winter.

Oddly enough I found the Dyna Glo unit, while looking at a $169 unit in the Autozone commercial flyer. They list it as OEM Tools but the number goes to a Great Neck site.
All the same stuff...
