Tell me you don't know Chicago without saying you don't know Chicago.

Youre right, I dont know. Ive only visited a few times.

But news looks bleak - https://www.nbcchicago.com/news/local/2021-ends-as-chicagos-deadliest-year-in-a-quarter-century/2719307/

"Chicago, as it has in previous years, ended 2021 with more homicides than any other city in the United States"

I mean, you can be upset at my dont get shot comment, but facts is facts brother.

If you look at it per capita the story changes (slightly). There's a lot of North Carolina on that list too.

I'll bet it been 15 years since I thought of Heaven on 7.  They used to have a cool menu item called, "just feed me."  Order that and someone from the kitchen bring your food to you rather than the waitress.  When they bring it, they explain what they've brought you.

I wish more restaurants did this.  Just bring me what you're good at making.

I think the only recommendation that hasn't been mentioned is Willis Tower. 6 hours isn't a ton of time, but they should be able to do a couple things and still have time for lunch.

Ahem. If they want to do the local thing, it is the Sears Tower thankyouverymuch.

Yep, walk across the street and go the top of the Sears Tower.  Then head over and have an early lunch at The Italian Village.   Then get back on the train and sleep off that Italian food.

First week of April?  Smelt fishing except it's after sunset and a thing of the past.

People ask me the best pizza in Chicago?  The deep dish Connie's pizza we bought off the Connie's pizza truck as we were smelt fishing on a cold, rainy night on the Chicago lakefront.

Very true. Still, some parts of Chicago are super rough.

Speaking of Chicago, I once sang the national anthem at a White Sox game, but that was 20 years ago while still in high school, on my first trip to Chicago

I had LOTS of ideas until I re-read the subject line.

Six HOURS in Chicago...

My bad. I'll see myself out.

I'll add to a pretty good list:  Uno's is the original Chicago deep dish pizza.  On the north side of downtown.  And there's always a Chicago dog as a quick lunch.  (Portillos & many others).

Taxis are generally pretty easy and not expensive unless there's a major Thing going on.  (or rain)

Pequods > Lou Malnatis > Unos > Ginos East > Giordanos.

But most chicagoans would tell you thin crust reigns supreme. Roseangelas is the best still around, but is wayyy on the south side (very safe neighborhood but too far). All of them have a good option though.

Skip the Chicago dog and get a Combo sandwich with giardinara (hot peppers).

Agreed on the pizza's, but Uno's has a historic aspect to it that I think makes it a worthy tourist stop.

My Uncle was a a propmaster traveling with Broadway shows and always had the best random places to eat in whatever city you were in.  He brought us to Heaven on 7 when it was in a random office building.  It was amazing and so food focused as there wasn't much they could do about the atmosphere.  I will find and try to the Just Feed Me option next time we are there.  It sounds a lot like a good Spring Break option as I sit here thinking on it.
