Generators/starters. Low value, heavy to ship. I have guilt about just pitching them. Any ideas on useful ways to get rid of them or just get over it and chuck them?

I've put them on cl multiple times and took the to a Brit car swap meet. I think that just answered it.

Offer it up for free. It's amazing the lengths that people will go to to get free stuff. It gets it out of your shop and alleviates your guilt for just throwing it away.

RossD drove something like 6 hours each way, with his two young kids no less, to pick up some old Renault parts I didn't have the heart to pitch.

Ebay.  Starting price of whatever shipping all the way across the country is plus ebay fee plus paypal fee, no reserve, "as is," "condition unknown" if it is unknown, "no returns," "free shipping."  Someone who wants them will buy them.

With all the extra Europa parts that I didn't need, I would just list them on the Europa email list as "free, you pay shipping."  Everything went.  Guy in Oz even sprung for international shipping of the shift linkage.

Richard Lentinello had a column about this in the Sept. '17 issue of HMN, and repeated it in the current issue of Hemmings Classic Car. To summarize, he said don't throw parts away, but rather, "pay them forward." In some cases, that might take some effort to find the right person to gift the parts to, but shouldn't be too difficult. Also, if the parts have real value to the recipient, he suggested making an agreement with that person to make a financial donation to a charity for an agreed-upon amount.

I'm in the same position.  At last check, I have three sets of TR6 suspension parts, three starters, and plenty of rusty, greasy parts.  One of the starters is rebuilt and functional.  The others, not so much.  I'll give them away to someone who needs a core.  If I ever move more than 100 miles, it will be very tempting to just scrap most of it.
