So our vacuum cleaner died, and we bought a new one.
But the motor in the old one is still good. What should I make it into? I'm not coming up with any good ideas...

That is really cool!

I forgot about that thread, thanks!
So what did you use your motor for?

I am ashamed to say that I took it to the scrap yard on Tuesday. It had oddly shaped mounts that were cast into the housing which would have made mounting it to a bench awkward. I was getting tired of tripping over. It fell victim to a garage cleaning spree.
I remember those!

Oh well, at least you got a little money out of it!

The best idea I can come up with is a blower for my paint gun.
A friend gave me a gun that attaches to a shop vac hose, but my shop vac just sucks- no going from suck to blow here.
I can't find a design for it though...
I like the fiberglass idea, on this I will meditate.
What is this flow bench you speak of?

Worlds fastest helmet dryer FTW! Not the best picture for your application, but a great idea for drying your helmet in the hotel.

David Vizard has a lot of information on building your own flow bench for flow testing cylinder heads and the like. Something like this:
I have nothing to add except that I have a 4-drawer file cabinet full of motors, switches, and other junk that I've scavenged from every thing I ever owned that died. I have so many projects just waiting to happen. I have a neat washing machine motor and transmission. Three speed electronic transmission... but what the heck do I do with it?
Yeah, I'm starting to think the same way.
I have a terrible habit of thinking "Ooh, I can make something neat out of that". And after I'm done I've usually spent more than I could buy one new. Or it never gets done and I trip over the item for two years.
