I really enjoyed Spiritfarer. It's very cozy and cartoony. Has a bit of platform exploration mixed in. The premise is that you are taking over for Charon and helping spirits finish up their last tasks before passing on.

It was very emotionally moving though. It made me cry several times.

I hear really good things about Stardew Valley.

Less cartoony, but cool, fun and mentally challenging: Return of the Obra Dinn

You are an insurance inspector (stick with me) who has to investigate a ship that comes to port after all hands are lost. You have a magic pocket watch that lets you see the final moments of people lost. It's a puzzle game where you have to figure out what happened to all 60 souls on board. Who (or what) killed them and how, or if they survived and escaped.

Thanks for the suggestions. A coworker plays Stardew Valley and I suspect he will recommend it as well.

I remembered shortly after posting that Mrs Monohue's laptop is actually a Chromebook. Apparently that's a bit of an obstacle, but not a completely insurmountable one.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom drops today on the Switch! I am a big Legend of Zelda fan, and have been known to buy Nintendo consoles solely to play those games. That reminds me, I need to finish Breath of the Wild before I pick this one up.

My older son and I are still in the start area of Zelda: BotW, but we're enjoying it.  I know we're a few years behind, but it's still an engrossing game.
