Random thought of thought of the day- what was the very first post I made here on GRM?
It was a link in the classifieds for a BMW on 7/7/2012. Linky McLinkface
Not exactly noteworthy.

Oh wow...that was 19 years ago. I don't think I could tell you what the last thread I started was, let alone the first!
The oldest I can find is from 2008 in a John Brown thread, but I had to recreate my profile that I had from the previous board, so no idea what or when I first posted.
Not the first but certainly my best thread so far

My first was a Challenge question.

I'm still amazed at the help provided to a newbie. In addition to those responses I also got several emails offering advice and help.

Hi looking for a challenged price 1st or 2nd gen rx-7, partially prepared for It IT or autocross is a plus and manual trans only. I live in PA so somewhere in the surrounding states would be nice
Interestingly my first post listed was asking if the ability to edit thread titles could be added to the then new board.

Likely August or September '04, probably to ask how to get 200 NA HP out of a 2.0 DOHC neon engine. I was 20 and thinking a chip would be good for 5-10, a CAI 10-15, and another 10-15 with an exhaust. Young and stupid.
Good grief! I was too young to remember!!
(My post history has been lost twice in the updates, so I truly have no idea)

The first thread I started on the last version of the message board, was just me complaining about the last change to the forum and the general content of the forum.
I feel like replying to my own thread and telling myself to shut up.
No idea- that was almost 20 years ago. I was on the forum when the original GRM Challenge took place, which was 1999.
Which means there are posters who have been here longer than some of the new posters have been alive.
In reply to Hungary Bill :
I follow Wayne Gretzky's mantra about missing 100% of the shots you don't take. If they didn't let us folks hang around who thought they were being funny when they weren't, this place wouldn't be the same.
My first post was congratulating someone for buying a 2005 Subaru Legacy GT wagon with a manual transmission back in October of 2009. I think I was actually in the hotel room at the $2009 Challenge making that post. Man, I've changed a lot since then!
KyAllroad: Been there, done that, many times. I even gave the ignore thread CPR once...

FWIW: I liked your story.

Apparently I killed the thread as well. Good for the ego.
I've went back and looked and it's amazing how many threads I have the last comment on.
We should start a group.
Thread Killers Anonymous.
This is the earliest it shows for me:

Hehehehehehe. Good to see things haven't changed much.
On May 21, 2008 I posted in a thread confirming that the GRM website was down for me as well. What a crappy first post...
Looks like I was the sole inhabitant of a three-post thread trying to get rid of a BMW M20B23 and an M20B27.
And I thought I was funny.
Burrito took them off my hands in the end. Or at least one of them. I was just talking to someone last night about my scrap metal go-round; was that the B27?
