So as many of you know I'm looking for employment after being laid off last month (holy cow it's already been almost a month!).
I interviewed with two places last week, the first one would be an ideal opportunity (full-time/benefits/a chance to increase my skill set)........the second place, contract only no real chance to move up/make more money/etc. The second place was very interested in hiring me the day I came in for the interview. I made it very clear I was working on other things and was looking for a more permanent gig.
So I get a call from the recruiter this morning, "Even if it's just temporary they would like to have you start next week. They understand you are looking for a full-time job and understand if one becomes available you will leave. No hard feelings."
I think I'm going to do it since that will at least get the paychecks flowing again and not have to touch my severance pay. Just thought it was interesting that's their stance.

But really. Sounds like everyone is down.
Go for it, seems downside-free to me. Last thing you need is an "employment gap."

Do it.....unless it will suck the life right out of you.
Yeah, I called the recruiter back and told her I'd start on Monday.
Also called the other place and left a message with the GM. He had told me last week to "Make sure you call me before you take another offer." So that seems like a good sign.

I'll join the chorus. Do it. The best about coming in as a temp is that you get to take the job and the company for a test drive. The company gets to do the same. If it works well, then you can figure how to extend the relationship. Otherwise, move no harm no fowl.
