Call me crazy, but every year, people ask me that question and I am always....ALWAYS stumped for an answer.
Yeah, there's always the silly response of, "New car!" or something, but thinking realistically within the budget limits of my family, I never can come up with something that I actually want. Dunno why, maybe it's the "kid" in me that still relates christmas...birthday, any gifts really to toys or something, I never think, "TOOLS!" out the box. Takes me till after the even to realize, "Hey! Dammit! I shoulda asked for this...or that!"
Past birthday was good, parents asked what I wanted, and there happened to be a sale on Mastercraft Maximum Tap & Die set. Course....birthday rolls around, and there it is.
So, anyone else suffer from the same problem? Anyone NOT know what to get someone for christmas...or...whatever holiday you choose to celebrate?
Please leave the no-gift comments out. I understand many people choose not to share gifts on holidays and such, but for those that do, feel free to brainstorm.
Just a bunch of DVDs and an antique radio. I would also like my gift from last year again...a cruise to the Bahamas and Grand Turk.
James Garner's new book - The Garner Files.
The book "Highway of Heroes-True Patriot Love" by Pete Fisher.
A couple of sweatshirts.
New winter boots.
... and maybe a better Miata, but only if SWMBO is in a really good mood.
I want a set of Scala G4 radio's for my helmets

A book of "Free Weekend Passes."
I've been a "car nut" from a very young age, probably 3 or 4 years old, and my family is still stumped when it comes to Christmas presents. My father? He's in his eighties and they get him a train set. Me? I get some doofus knick knack. My brother-in-law is a (supposed) car nut and M-B owner so I get him THE complete history of M-B in book form. His wife, my sister, gets me a gift card to J.C. Penney.
So, anymore, just get me a gift card to any fast food restaurant, you can't really go wrong.
But yeah, I'd love a new or even just a newer car.

This year I actually have a huge list of stuff I could really use. I'll be happy with any of it:
Tools
Race seat
EVO school
Hockey helmet
Hockey visor
New reffing pants
Watch
RS3's
(I have more but can't think of them right this second)
For years, I've had trouble making a list. This year, I want the safety gear I need to Lemons race.

A gopro, wheels and tires for the mx6, moar tools, assorted blu rays, GOW3, Forza 4, NFS The Run.
About 5'6", red hair down to the middle of her back, stacked on top....
But since my wife may not approve of the idea...I always tell her to get me pretty much anything car related and I'll be happy.
But I'll end up with and be very happy with one of these:
Buzz box 90a welder
Real floor jack
Ramps
Garage organization
Mr Heater Infrared electric space heater
Netbook
Tuning Software
Cast iron stovetop griddle
Xbox/Forza 4
PS3/GT5
Pawn shop Rollee
New subscription to GRM
I never know what to tell family as gift ideas for myself. and its the same way every year.
All I really want is a new xbox 360 and another pair of tires to go with the pair i just put on my car last week. I guess a Classic Motorsports subscription is a good reasonably priced idea if someone asks me.
I am thinking of some gift GRM subscriptions for the brothers in laws.

I maintain a wish list on amazon.com all year long for birthday and Christmas present uses. If I see something I like the looks of but won’t be buying myself for whatever reason, I click the button (I have a firefox plugin for this). There’s all kinds of junk out there now, from $5 gadgets to $500 new pistol (recently Amazon changed it to where you can add items from other sites to their wishlist). After a decade of my wife griping about “I never know what to get you” this has been a good solution for us.
Gonna cost me $1500, but I know the last 3 owners and its not a rust bucket. Win!
In reply to 4cylndrfury:
Thanks, I just sent that to my wife.

I WANT a 1/12 scale Kawasaki Eddie Lawson Replica, to put in a display case on top of the TV, to remind me to get my tired azz to the storage area and finish my own. But I'll get a hoodie sweatshirt (and maybe a World Class kiss from the new G/F) and I'll be happy. I please easy.
Ditto on the real floor jack and ramps.
I also often ask for some of the cool T-shirt designs I've seen online (either car or music related). I usually won't buy a $20 T-shirt for myself but it is the perfect price for a gift.

I leave for Germany in January and will be there for at least 6-months. I don't want a bunch of stuff that I can't bring with me.
Forza 4 and a bunch of stuff off this site...
I don't care if they're replicas
