I thought that Chlamydia was the Greek goddess of illicit love.

We just talked to the birth certificate lady here at the hospital and asked about the Lemonjello/Orangejello deal--she hadn't heard of that as a name, although she did tell us about the girl that was named ABCDE here at Halifax. She made us laugh by saying, "What, do you call her Absidee?"

I really thought hard about changing my middle name to Danger. You all know you have thought about it too. I really almost tried.

I will name my first dog Vanos (after the German acronym, VANOS for Variable Valve Timing).

I saw some names on some office documents that made me (and the office) laugh.

Peace Blessings is one that comes to mind. Then there was also Monet (a transgender character - used to be a man - now looks kind of like a woman).

Two of my neighbors were named Hope and Faith. Both turned out, pretty much, to be drug-addicted looneys. A shame, because Hope used to be a good girl.

I dunno about that... True story:

Richard Smother, of the Smothers Brothers comedy duo, name his eldest son after himself. Much to his chagrin, his son decided to become a pornographic actor. He did not have to change his name:

Dick Smothers

Weird, I knew a couple of twin sisters that were also named Hope and Faith. Hot blonde twin sisters. I have no idea how they turned out.

I also know two sisters named Hope and Faith, although they're not twins, and only one if them is hot and blonde. They're both cool chicks and turned out alright.

I guess I should stop complaining that my parents decided to name me Michael Jason, but use my middle name as the "common" one. Dad is Michael Glenn, and they didn't want us both to answer to the same name. It's no un to be sitting in an office, only half paying attention, and missing when they call "Michael." Especially since they don't always use a last name. My sister is Kathryn Michelle, my mother Kathryn Faith. Their social security numbers are one digit off (we immigrated from Canada, and all applied at the same time, Dad's and mine are close, but not that close). She tried to buy a cell phone from AT&T, and the local branch had her arrested for "attempted identity theft". They figured that she had gotten hold of my mother's ID, changed a single number and initial. Not that she had multiple forms of id on her to prove who she was...

I heard the Lemonjello and Orangejello story in Louisiana in the 80's. The story goes that doctors at Charity Hospital in New Orleans were suggesting wacky baby names. A policy was put in place to stop that after Nosmo King (no smoking) was born. Never heard if he had a twin named Nopar.

Not terribly interesting but my girlfriends parents names are Masud and Masuda. While Masud is a pretty comman name where they come from, masuda is relatively rare. They had an "arranged" marriage. You have to wonder if the family thought, "hey wouldn't it be cute to put these two people with the same name together"

Gotta correct my old post...Met a lady named DeLaundri not DeLaundi. She worked near another girl named Lobertha. Favorite was Kaopatra Xiocia (pronounced Su-sha) Brown.

I offen joked that a good name would be Formica Dinette because it just had a nice ring...then I read that someone did name their child that.

Bruce P.S. I might name my cat Basslap Lambada.

I have a good friend named Richard Johnson.

I went to High School with a mulatto guy named Aryan. I could never figure out if his parents were stupid or trying to make a point at his expense.

Another friend named his daughter Madison, which is now pretty common. I was recently reading that "Madison" was never used as a name until after the movie Splash.

My last name is Pollock, not polock. My wife's is Murphy. If it had occurred to me then I would have given her name to the kids.

In the mid to late '90s, two friends of my ex-girlfriend each had a daughter, one was named Madison and the other Savannah. Oddly enough, at the same time I friend (who didn't know the other two girls) who's favorite porn stars were Madison and Savannah. Weird.

Dude, 1 out of 3 girls born in the mid-to-late '90s was named Madison or Savannah. It's not weird at all.

So is it coincidence that there were two two big name porn actresses with those names, or were a lot of people watching porn in the mid to late '90s? I guess what I'm asking is this a case of art imitating life or life imitating art? You know, a chicken and egg sort of question.
