Once upon a time, back in the mid-1970's, this hottie, or one of her contemporaries, convinced me that I needed to convince my parents that I needed a Ski Tote.

Naturally, I took the bait, managed to buy one and used it well into the 80's and maybe even into a few of the 90's.
I haven't skied much in the past few years, but I'm getting back into it. Specifically, beginning tomorrow morning. I'm going to be hauling around two pairs of skis and poles. Surely there must be some sort of preferred contraption, or better still, some kind of fancy knot system that I haven't thought of, that I can whip together out of a few dollars worth of webbing or a couple of old tie down straps.
Any suggestions from the experts?

I hook the power straps on my boots together and sling them over my shoulder like a duffle bag. Skis in one hand, poles in the other. Clothes are in a backpack. When I say clothes I mean flask.
I still have a ski tote, if you want it. I think it's green.

And now I'm all bummed out because that girl has to be in her mid-60s now.
Damn you, Time...
I tried one of those, back then. It was a pain in the ass. Then I just used a velcro strap, around the tips, and carried skis in one hand, poles in the other and boots/gear in a bag over my shoulder.
I'm just realized that the last time I skied regularly ski totes were still a thing. ![](/media/img/icons/smilies/unhappy-18.png)

I'm pretty sure I didn't invent this but I can't find any pictures of it online so maybe it's not a popular thing to do. Just flip one ski pole upside down and attach it to the other pole with the little cutout near the bottom. Then put the wrist straps around the skis. Instant ski tote and you don't need to haul anything else around.

Wow, I remember that ad....
The easy way to go is to line up the poles opposing each other and hook the pole straps around the tips and ends of the skis. Then you can grab the poles in the centre like a briefcase handle.
Oops, Enyar beat me to it. I was preoccupied thinking about that ad....

I rarely see them. For most alpine skis, it seems the brakes allow the skis to lock together. Modern skis tend to be much wider now, so I'm not sure they fit in something made for 80's skis. Mine are telemark skis (no brake), so I use a little rubber band with a metal clasp similar to this to strap the skis together.
Maybe folks will strap their poles to the skis for transport, but usually not. The pole baskets usually have a catch that allows you to clip the poles together.
Boots I just wear, since tele books flex at the toe and are fairly easy to walk in. At the local PA mtns I go to, it's about half and half for the alpine folks who just walk in their boots from the car or change in the lodge and use a locker.

I just noticed, somehow, that my older brother had those exact same bindings, Solomon 444s. I don't know how I remembered that.
