IIRC someone here is related to Robert Jordan. This is my favorite book series ever until I started feeling it was just getting drawn out. Just noticed that Amazon has made it into a series. Should I watch it or will I be disappointed?

I also loved the books; series was OK (I think if I hadn't read the books I would have been SUPER confused) and I'll keep watching in the hopes it gets more popular/improves if they do more seasons. I vote watch a couple episodes and see how ya feel.
Couldn't say. As a big fan of the books (and having finished them all) I can tell you the series is a VERY loose interpretation. That's about the nicest thing I can say.
I was pretty disappointed with season one, almost from the start. Season two seems to be a little smoother, and a lot better.
If I hadn't read the books, I don't know. In my mind, the TV version doesn't explain the magic of the world very well*. And the storyline (book) makes use often of a somewhat tribal world where aside from the large cities, folks have been pretty isolated for several millennia. The show completely axes the concept opting for a very PC version. It isn't a deal breaker, but it is going to hamper several character driven plot points going forward.
Trying not to give any spoilers.
*the magic system is completely changed. Which is a shame. It is a beautiful and original concept. The change feels very driven by socio-political bs. That's all I'll say about it.
In conclusion, as with most things, you should try it for yourself. Maybe you'll like it, but you won't know until you try.
Jordan was my wife's uncle. He was an interesting man to hang out with.
She loved the books of course but didn't like the series enough to finish it. There were apparently some significant changes made for PC reasons that changed large parts of the story.
He was too wordy for me so I never made it past book 1. I also didn't watch any of the show.
I wouldn't, but, the only Prime originals I've actually enjoyed were Upload, Grand Tour, and Clarksons Farm. After what they did to Good Omens, i wouldn't trust them with any other book series.
It's just OK. As others have said, many liberties are taken with the original story. The whole thing doesn't flow well, and I'm confused even after reading through book 6. Some of the casting is good, some is not.
At least it didn't make me want to throw E36 M3 at the TV like that awful Lord of the Rings prequel.
