Case in point:

If my car broke down in front of the White House, chances are I'd hang around until the tow truck got there. For that matter, if my car broke down anywhere I'd hang around until the tow truck got there.
We're working our way towards that every day..... :( A good friend is in Scottland while is wife is in school over there. He brings home 45% of his paycheck. Sounds like a plan to me! (sarcasm)

No kidding. I'm sure if you abandoned a car within earshot of the Whitehouse, the police would be on it like stink on poo. A note would not placate them, nor would I expect it to.

I actually kinda (well, absolutely do) agree with stuartMN. It's not like the guy left it on a rural road in the countryside or something.. Doing what this guy did would be like leaving your car in a no parking zone next to the White House or the Capitol in the US.
EDIT: Aside to N Sperlo..do you think the Royal Guards would actually move for something like this..maybe long enough to call the SAS on the phone?
I was looking out of this window over here when they exploded my car.
Edit - he does not actually say that, but the photo is hilarious.
