I might be going to the Sebring 12 Hours. Where's the best place to fly into from Detroit?
Palm Beach airport (PBI) would probably be easiest, but not sure it will be the cheapest. Fort Lauderdale (FLL) will definitely be cheaper and farther away, by that point it might be best to fly into Orlando.
If the fare is the same I would definitely fly into Palm Beach. Small airport and you are in and out in 10' with all the major rental companies available.
You could also do tampa or clearwater if its any cheaper, they're all roughly the same distance. Not sure about car rentals at clearwater though, good luck and stop by turn 17 and say hi!
Ignore the previous kind and generous—but thoroughly incorrect—advice and fly to Orlando. It's less than two hours away from Sebring (considerably less if traffic is favorable) and has decent flight from and to pretty much anywhere.
Definitely Tampa or Orlando. Palm Beach and Fort Lauderdale are on the wrong side of the state and too far south. Tampa is about a 90 minute drive, Orlando is around 75-90 minutes IIRC..
Uh 1hour 40minutes from st pete, towing a race car.....no red lights, plenty o cows though! 275 to 64 to 66 a little over 100 miles and not many cops either.
.
Forgot about St. Pete, i've even flown in and out of there once. There's an airport in the Sarasota/Bradenton area too, but it's probably a much cheaper fare to fly into one of the major airports in the region (Tampa, Orlando, St. Pete)
Actually sarasota is the closest, you could make sebring in an hour from there. Now which airport is least expensive to get a round trip ticket, I would guess Orlando.
