First off ,  I found this website that shows where the Roadster is now

https://www.whereisroadster.com/

And with luck the Manned Space X flight will go Wednesday afternoon .

Amazing what they have done in a few years :)

Stay safe.....still

The weather for Wednesday's launch is a little iffy, we may have to wait for the alternate window on Saturday. Either way, I'll be watching.

+1.  While i'm less than a fan of Tesla, I'm digging Space X.  And seeing the excitement of people half my age when one of their rockets go up is pretty darned cool.  Space still fascinates a LOT of people.

In reply to Keith Tanner :

Latest weather update (9 am today) is a 60% chance for "go" conditions.

What is the latest weather situation on this?

(There are a number here who can just look outside)

It's a little more than just looking out the window :)

Right now:
Primary Day = 50% 'Go'. This percentage does not include upper-level winds, recovery weather, nor abort weather.
* Upper-level wind shear risk is low. Recovery weather is fair.
Backup Day (L-3) = 60% 'Go'. This percentage does not include upper-level winds, recovery weather, nor abort weather.
* Upper-level wind shear risk is low. Recovery weather is good.

Weather in the abort corridor is described as "poor" and is not in the above forecast. There's a weather meeting going on right now, we'll likely know more in an hour.

I wish they had a  stadium type big screen TV over at Space X today , it would be cool to view it with the guys that built it  , I am sure if you are near-by Space X you will hear the roar from the Space X building ,

Happy Trails

The looking out the window report is pointless but still fun! Here's my view towards Kennedy (about 60 miles south of here).

Cool, thanks.

I am going to be watching on Discovery.  They have a full 2 hour slot for it.  I suspect they will make room on Saturday if needed.

(If they where launching from Vandenberg, which they don't for space station shots, it would be sever clear)

Official weather forecast for the launch site, does not include the abort path. See link under "Launch Support" - I won't link directly because I see something time-stamped in that URL.

https://www.patrick.af.mil/About-Us/Weather/

They've decided to continue with the launch countdown despite significant weather concerns. It may be scrubbed at the last minute, but just in case...

I would be driving up to Vandenberg if the launch was from there !

I tried to watch one of the Titan 3 launches out of Vandenburg, but it kept getting scrubbed (not weather, bugs).  I did eventually see it from Ventura harbor (30 ish miles south, the rockets launch southward) and did not see much other than a smoke trail in the distance.

BTW Vandenburg is more situation for polar orbit shots, which are normally only used for spy and survey satellites.

We were supposed to be in the Bahamas today, Canaveral yesterday, if not for this lockdown.

Weather still appears poor, but they are taking the astronauts out to the pad, in Teslas.

BTW, currently the launch is scheduled for 4:33pm.  So we have some time.  I need to go out for a drive.

I dunno. To me, 50% might as well be 0% but fingers crossed!

Be forewarned--if you have the sound on, you will hear a TON of fanboi/gurl references to "Bob and Doug." It's part science, part canook standup.

If this is anything like the Titan3 I was trying to watch, they will let the countdown get very low before aborting.  That damn Titan 3 aborted 3 times at under a minute to launch!

Still sounds weird even in the "right" order. I seem to remember NASA astronauts always being referred to by their full names: John Glenn, Neil Armstrong, Judith Reznick. Do NOT recall Peter Jennings ever going, "Who's just climbed into the launch vehicle? Is that Judy??"

That was back when astronauts didn't have Twitter accounts. @Astro_Doug kinda asks you to refer to him by his first name. And if you listen to the actual Apollo tapes, it's a first name environment.

I'm really hoping the launch command is "Take off, eh".
