I am most likely heading to a convention for work in Louisville in later October. The convention will be at the Convention Center. Any recommendations on where to stay? I'd like to be within a half hour of both places.

What's the second place?

There are a ton of hotels in that general area around the convention center. If you don't want to be directly in the city, you could grab a hotel in Brooks, KY. It's about 15 minutes south of downtown, just outside the city. The nicest part of town is out on the east end (St.Matthews / Bardstown rd / hurstborne Ln area) but that will be cutting it close on your 30 minute time range to the convention center.

Place two would be the airport... Sorry about that

Louisville is small enough that no matter where you stay you'll be within a half hour of the airport and the convention center. I lived in the residence inn on market street for a month after i had a pipe burst in my house. it's downtown and close to everything. East market st has a lot of stuff happening these days and just past that is highlands which is wear everything happens both of those places are just a few minutes from any downtown hotel.

My flights are booked..will be arriving at 7:15 pm so ill beat rush hour that day. My flight out leaves at 9:45 am. I am looking to stay at the Country Inn and Suites off on Kentucky Mills Lane. Google Maps says about 12-14 miles/20-25 minutes from the airport. Am I going to be gambling being that distance from the airport having to get there during rush hour? Is a place closer to the airport a better idea?

Going from the airport to KY Mills Lane in the morning rush hour is usually problem-free. This overlaps part of my daily commute. Going from KY Mills Lane to downtown Louisville during the morning rush hour will make you want to punch babies and drown kittens.

Could I manage getting from Ky Mills Lane to the airport without using the highways and sticking to side streets and back roads?

I got here okay. Getting to the hotel was pretty easy and direct. I ended up getting a Kia Forte as a rental.

Glad to hear it. Enjoy your time here--- it's a great place. Sadly, I can't do dinner tonight, but you'll find no shortage of great places to eat that you won't find anywhere else.

You'll need to log in to post.
