I happened to see that the books are on Amazon so I read the whole series for the first time since I was a kid. (I downloaded the series as one book). I think the Black Tiger may have been responsible for me being a car guy. I think they are young people books but still a pretty dang good read, and with some interesting tech thrown in here and there from Davies Principles.

I had never heard of him but on Amazon it seems most of his books including the Black Tiger series are only on Kindle.  At least that's what Amazon keeps directing me towards.  The Mouse That Roared is a phrase that I recognize of course.  I'll have to see if I can find any paper books on sale. yes

There was a series?  I only had the original book.  For some reason, what I remember most about the Black Tiger was the Scottish mechanic.

Yes, who refers constantly to Davies Principles and Problems of the internal Combustion engine.

There are a few. They go to Indy twice, the Carrarra dePanamericana, Le Mans and a few others. Last book is about a steam turbine. heavy references to Andy Granatelli.
