Interesting last sentence of the article....
It is unclear why the 6-person jury awarded Hogan $15 million more than he sought.
I read this on Twitter..
Bollea tells ex wife she gets none of settlement, because she was married to Terry Bollea (not Hulk Hogan)
So a side effect of this ruling, Gawker is going kaput? Of course they'll appeal but the idea of less clickbait bs on the interwebs is so nice to think about.
It's worth noting that Gawker defied a court order during this case. They were ordered - not asked but ordered - by the judge to take the video down and refused. Their editor in chief also had this lovely exchange with the plaintiff's attorney while on the stand and under oath:
“Can you imagine a situation where a celebrity sex tape would not be newsworthy?” Daulerio answered flatly, “If they were a child.” “Under what age?” attorney Charles Harder asked. “Four,” he said.
Hulk may have it good but Gawker did this to themselves. Imagine if you're on the jury and you hear that exchange. What would you think? Especially given the history of the case?
