There's a house on my way to work. They've had decorations up since mid-August. Those people are ready.
We don't get any trick or treat kids at our house, no point in decorating. Sometimes I'll carve a pumpkin or two.
We usually go to a friend's house in a neighborhood, sit in the driveway and give out candy.
Before the plague, we would have a costume party every few years. Halloween coincided with a full moon on a Saturday in 2020. We have big plans for that one, and of course that didn't happen.
We still do lots of costumes, my wife has a costuming degree, and has had an interview with Stetson to run their costume shop in the theater department. Wish us luck with that, they seem very interested since they weren't expecting to get a professional.
I cut out these paper jack-o'-lanterns from Yamaha. The witch is assembled, but looks like garbage.
Maybe I'll light them up on the night.
We'll be at SEMA on Halloween, but I couldn't resist putting up a few decorations. I'll try to remember to take a picture later.
Every day is Halloween, especially if your wife was involved in the goth scene when she was younger.
My eldest daughter's birthday is on Halloween and she went away to college this year so nada.
Also, the water Nazis here in Southern California only allow watering one day per week (one day per week has an identical result as no watering so, in a practical sense, no watering is allowed)...illuminating my yard just means that it looks like a$$ even after the sun has gone down.
I'm sorry to be such a...

I wanted to go, but sold out once I learned of the date.

As promised:
The standard two pumpkins are on the porch. But that evening I will be at a friend's with more foot traffic and we in some sort of Star Wars costumes. We've become the house to go to after the last few years.
Wife buys pumpkin and puts it on porch.
We ready.
When kids were little it was an event - carving 2-3 pumpkins, decorations, cider, roasting seeds, family over to hang out..........
Our neighborhood is not dense enough to make it worthwhile for trick or treaters. Even our last one wasn't. Haven't had a kid come to the door in at least 18 years.

Kinda cool, I would not have expected that from Yamaha of all places. My juvenile sense of humor noticed the names for the assembly instruction .pdf files:
Black cats are excellent year-round decorations (indoor only). My plan is to keep all the lights off in the house, keep the garage door closed, and use an angle grinder continuously. I live on a cul-de-sac at the furthest corner of the subdivision, so it's not like I'm going to be really anti-social.
Well, we weren't ready but two little girls from our neighborhood ARE!!!! They started their trick or treating about half an hour ago (yes, tonight! 10/20). My wife asked if they were going to be trick or treating again on the 31st.... "Yes, of course!"
It's always hit or miss here. Most of the houses in the neighborhood are rentals (only about 4 are privately owned - and we're all older). Some years we get dozens, others, none. I buy candy anyway, just in case.
