I've been running into radon in well water lately. Probably always been there, but only recently have people been testing for it. All the new houses I do need a 3" PVC pipe from the basement to the attic just in case they find radon gas after the house is built. If they find it, they bust a hole in the basement floor and connect a sealed pipe from under the concrete to the one I installed and then go to the attic and run that one thru the roof. Stands to reason that if there is radon gas leaking into the house from below that radon gas is going to be in the well dug a couple hundred feet into the ground. My sister recently bought a house that the owner had to install an 80K septic, a 8K well, and an 18K radon remediation system on the water and for radon in the basement. Big house, 6 bathrooms, 400 acres, so the cost wasn't too big a deal to the seller.
