Long story short I have a WIFI connection through a local cable company that requires login information (which I have) on a splash page before connecting to the internet. Internet on the laptop works great but not so great on the smart phones.
I tried an Amped Wireless SR10000 but neither I nor tech support could figure out how to handle the splash page.
It looks like the Netgear N300 in "hotspot" mode would work, but I was hoping for something more heavy duty with an external antenna. Any ideas?

I used the paid version of WiFi Web Login for a while for this, and it worked great. My android devices would immediately log in if they detected that they weren't connected.

Connecting isn't an issue but I need some sort of signal booster. The laptops pick up a great signal throughout the house and I can stream movies or whatever is needed. The cellphones seem to struggle with anything.
Any router running DD-WRT or OpenWRT and a small curl shellscript should take care of this. Given your signal problems, I'd recommend getting one with removable antennas and then switching to high-gain antennas.
In fact a TP-link Archer C7 v2 would fit the bill nicely and comes with some good removable antennas that might already get the job done. That's a router I might buy for myself.
Edit: The C7 v2 is not a dedicated extender but it can be set up as one, at least with OpenWRT on it.
