Inspection regs in MA make most of these illegal as the cover the plate type. I have failed several people for this after they refused to remove them. I photo it so it is in the RMV record so if another inspector passes it they can get in trouble and since we now photo the front and rear of the cars for all inspections it will be a tough one for them to circumvent.
The short of it is install with care on your car making sure that the plate type is not concealed.

Here’s one for you: I was teaching my daughter to drive the Miata tonight, and at some point in the process she said “clutch in, dicks out”.
