With the passing of my good friend Brian I have been doing a little bit of thinking and realized that life is short and unpredictable. Now this does not mean I should be irresponsible but I realized that Brian and I had a bunch of plans that would have taken us years to complete and sadly it was just not to be.
I have been lusting after a STR. I have driven my friends XKR many times and loved it but I always liked the more reserved four door version that technically is a faster and better handling car out of the box due to a better rear gear a bit more boost and it having a tin top.
I have been looking for a very specific car with very specific colors, options and mileage. I found one about a month ago that ticked all the box's but the asking price I felt was a bit to much. After some haggling we were at an impass. It was only about $1,000 or so but the buisness side of me has been fixated on the deal and felt that they should come down just that little bit more. Well this morning I realized life is short and you have to enjoy it. So I said #%&@ it and agreed to purchase the car at the dealers most recent offer price. I have been smiling all day.
I pick it up later this week. Photos coming soon. I am excited and I really am happy about the deal.
This is not a cheep STR. In fact it is on the higher end of the price range but for what it is it is a fair deal. Will I loose money with depreciation? Absolutely!! But I did not purchase this based on a perceived value down the road. This is a make me happy purchase. A live a little purchase.
Every now and then you need to do something just for you. Something that makes you smile and happy.
Good on you. Life is too short. Drive what you want. Looking forward to pics.

Whats an STR???
I too wondered but I knew a XKR was a Jag so I figure a STR is a S-Type R.

Only 400+ hp of American muscle squeezed into a set of European designer pants.
This is not the car but it is exactly like the one I will be getting. The one above is also exactly the same but it has after market wheels

Thank you. You hit the nail on the head, and illustrated a good bit of why I bought this ridiculous E55.

Yep. I could have spent 1/3 the amount and got a regular S type with the v6. You can apply the same logic when purchasing a m3 or m5. Incidentally the STR on paper is better than an M5 but due to the lack of a lsd and a couple other things that the pcm does it is not better.
Now you will be able to say "I left my (insert item here) in the jaaaaaaaag." LOL! ![](/media/img/icons/smilies/cool-18.png)
Just signed the P&S agreement I am trying to figure out insurance at the moment.
Way to go. This reasoning is why I bought a C4 ZR-1 last summer to go with the C4 Callaway twin turbo. It was against my better judgment but I couldn't pass up the opportunity, to own both apex predators of that generation Corvette. Hope the Jaguar is everything you hope it will be and more.

Congrats. I feel like I am teetering on the edge of an automotive berkeley it moment myself.
If I would have had the 34K my boss got for his low mileage S63 AMG I would be 34K poorer.
Im running on borrowed time and have been saying the same when it comes to buying parts for the project. I gotta get this thing done before my shelflife hits the due best by date.
Isn't that a super charged Lincoln LS-V8 with a Savile row suit on?
Nice. Its not deterring my irrational lust for a Jag one bit.![](/media/img/icons/smilies/cool-18.png)

If we are talking age here I am older than both of you. I look it as I am just getting started while having the wisdom to actually enjoy things. When I was younger I did many things but with out said wisdom to realize just how special some of them were I missed out on the opertunity to saver the moment and really appreciate and enjoy things. At 50 + I am just getting started with my list of crazy things I want to do.

Having already owned one there is a certain swagger that you say that with. And then smile. Your inner James Bond starts to show. ![](/media/img/icons/smilies/crazy-18.png)

98% of the reason I want to eventually own a Rolls Royce someday is so I can offhandedly mention that "I'll have to pass, I took the Rolls today." The other 2% is stupidity.
