Anybody going in the next couple days? It's pretty nuts out here - after about 5pm Woodward is bumper to bumper. If anyone wants to hang out let me know - I live within walking distance of Woodward and 12 mile.
I was walking around yesterday with my 1960 Polaroid camera, taking photos, and a guy paid me a few bucks to take a shot of his ride. Thinking I have a money-making scheme for this weekend...

Nice photo. You can still get Polaroid film? I kind of thought it had been discontinued, but maybe I'm thinking of the SX-70 camera.
I'm going Saturday in the convertible. Not sure when or exactly where yet.
I haven't been down there (on Saturday) the last two years. It's just soo crowded now. I remember when I'd go down there and actually, you know, drive on Woodward. Now, you can't even park near woodward. The thing is, I'd deal with it if it was a traffic jam full of classics and muscle cars but it's total DB's in explorers and caravans with the occasional MG mixed in. Even 'the loop' is crowded now. That used to be the place you could still go and see the occasional burn-out and an engine above idle.
I might hit 'Back to the Bricks' this weekend for the first time.

You can get "packfilm" which is the older, larger format Polaroid stuff, now made by Fuji. You can also get film again for the SX-70 type cameras, but it's pretty experimental, to say the least.
This is the camera I'm using:

Or you can use Instagram or several other apps to make cell phone camera pics look like old Polaroids.
Looks like I'll be there around 9am, meeting some friends for breakfast near Mustang Alley in Ferndale.
We're leaving for vacation straight after work on Friday so I'll miss it this year
. I was up briefly on Tues and Weds as I live very close by.
Yes, Back to the Bricks is a better alternative these days. I like Woodward early in the week before, but you can see nice stuff any Saturday night during the summer without the crazy crowds.
I've never heard of "Back to the Bricks" is it another show?
Back to the bricks is the Flint version. It runs on Saginaw Street from downtown south to Grand Blanc.
Wow, I was in Detroit 2 weeks ago thinking "I hope that Woodward Cruise isn't this weekend".
Once I was in Louisville and couldn't find a hotel to find out the Kentucky Derby was coming up that weekend. Doh!
woodward dream cruise is the third weekend of august, every year. i'm going tomorrow after work, planning to take telegraph to maple and head east from there, park somewhere north of downtown birmingham, and walk down to 13 mile. i will wear my green GRM SECURITY t-shirt.

I went to Duggan's last night with the family (wife, boys-2&4, and my parents) then down to 13 and Woodward to watch the fun. Brought the kids home and got them to bed then went back out in my SVX and did a few laps before hanging out at Hodges Subaru in fashionable Ferndale until the rain started. I'll be back this afternoon drooling on Mustangs at 9 Mile Rd.
