Well, my Samsung plasma is at least 5 years old now, its a 1080/600hz though. The picture is amazing and I never see pixels(I can notice them on 240hz refresh LCD/led)
Whenever it dies, it will get replaced by another plasma.
Not unless you buy a used plasma set. The technology is dead.

And it's a damn shame. IMO, plasmas will always have better picture quality than LCD, and they don't need any motion-smoothing BS, either.
Not dead yet still available. Like the last e30 M3 on the lot, get it now!

Plasma is dead, yes it's blacks are superior, but put a modern back-lit local dimming LED LCD next to it, and you'll be hard pressed to tell a difference, plus you can watch the LCD with the blinds open on a sunny and there's no concern of burn-in.
Never had burn in on my plasmas. I think that is like the exploding Cell phone battery stories. Yes you can have an exploding cell phone battery if you hack the phone and bypass the battery charging software and then overload the battery. But man that is such hard work. I guess if you set a plasma up with the right conditions maybe after a few weeks it would be burned in. Kind of like if you pushed a knife into the screen it will eventually have a hole in it.
Bring back the Plasma!!! LCD is just cheap then add software options on top to make it closer to Plasma performance while still being less than what I want.
We bought another 60" plasma a few months ago for our media room. Off axis picture of every other display we looked at sucked. You had to be dead center or slightly off to get a picture that didn't look washed out. Even my wife noticed. Hopefully something tasty will be available to replace the 5 year old 50" Panasonic plasma in the living room when the time comes.
