After reading all the comments, I decided to install the coilovers I have been sitting on for the last 3 years on my e46 M3.
I slammed it and went with a square wheel set-up ... lots of poke in the front. Love it. My car, my money, I cant care less what anyone else thinks.
Yes, the fender lip is between the rim and the tire.

Sometimes it hurts to think about how many camaros and chevelles we cut up into stockcars when they were just cheap old cars. It's been going on forever.
Yep. 55-57 Chevies. 39-41 Fords. Model As. Beetles. The list goes on and on.
But if the cars we not raced they probably would have just been scrapped and turned into tuna cans.. A fate far worse than any type of motorsport.
Just remember that dumping a car so low to where you have to be very careful about curbs and railroad crossings is not a new thing. Bob Hirohata's Merc was 2 years old at the time. Should we get off his lawn?
Not to concerned what anyone else thinks of my crap. He came off like a dick a couple times on forums and went and did his own thing. I've watched his channel a bit and he does t come off that way. I like what happened at his hands.
A buddy of mine is still quite upset about a certain thunderbird I have yet to finish. Something about no rust and a rare Interior finish and a real "survivor"
eh. Also, I'm a bonafide and unapologetic shiny happy person.
Cars are like music or non-water beverages. Everyone has their own taste and almost all of us a freaks by someone else's measurement.

That's not bad. Hell, that even looks purposeful.
The thing that sucks is people slamming, grinding the ground, wrecking the dwindling supply of increasingly rare cars.
(yes, I gripe about demolition derbies too. Ever notice how many 4 door and wagon 60s/70s cars there aren't?)

So, he's like Ted Nugent. Amazing guitar player who throws it right in the toilet by talking.

Every industry has people like that.
Boyd Coddington, Carrol Shelby and George Barris come to mind.

Stance takes priority over silly things like turning and suspension travel.

My criteria is simple: does it make the car peform better? Only 'yes' answers get applied.
Looks? Subjective, and mostly done to gain attention.
It's funny - I posted a few months ago about building an MGB in the style of a porsche built by Magnus Walker and many here came steamrolling in with the 'oh Magnus, what a poser, not true enthusiast, wah wah wah'.
Then we have this thread where everyone is coming to the rescue of poor Mike Burroughs...
My only explanation is that we have become the old crotchety contrarians of car culture.
Also, one of Mike's cars helped inspire me to build my first challenge car - and while I haven't met him in person, that is one positive thing he has done.
In reply to Robbie (Forum Supporter) :
Wow. There's a lot of people who's opinions I usually respect coming off like complete snobs in that thread. Thats...disappointing.
FWIW, I love the idea of an Outlaw MG.

Well then, I'll let you off the hypocrite hook, but not the "old crotchety contrarian" piece.

This reminds me of a discussion I saw once. I'm going to paraphrase it like E36 M3 but it was effectively this rant about blah blah blah ruining cars stance sucks this guy sucks, and it was in reference to a slammed Miata. The other guy says simply, "ever looked at the stance kids? They're bouncing the berkeley along scraping on the ground having the best time they've ever had in a car". Like, why you gotta be mad someone else's fun isn't yours? I don't like football but other than some light hearted jeers I generally leave football fans alone. Same concept.
Yeah, this whole contrarian thing is definitely happening in our society. Trying not to flounder, the opponents of lifting mask guidelines were...surprising.
Why can't we all just get along?

I'll be honest, I didn't know who either of them was till their respective threads. So I'm not sure who I'm supposed to hate and who I'm supposed to like.

In my case? Malicious enforcement of the golden rule. Treat me like E36 M3 and I assume that's how you want to be treated. Results may vary, ask your podiatrist before attempting to stick your foot in someone's ass.
The word I think of with the Stance cars is "over modified".
I suspect most here have experienced the effect. Modifying your car until one day you realize its essentially unpleasant to drive in any kind of normal driving. Younger people seem to put up with the discomfort a lot more. "Cool" seem to take priority in those cases.

We did have a GRM forum member try to rehabilitate a stanced Miata. IIRC it was damaged quite badly and it was not a happy ending to the story. So it may not be worthwhile for a stanced car to return to function until we get to the equivalent point of Elans in lawn trailers.
Ooo I wonder if it was my old one?
As one of my coworkers says "Hey man, don't yuck on somebody else's yum!"
