I went to the store today (1/1/2023) and I saw a lady in workout clothes riding her bicycle around the 'hood. Earlier today I cracked out my Bible devotional and blew off some dust to start fresh. Many join gyms or start budgets.
So what are starting this week?
We take a break during the holidays for this very reason.
We'll return later in the week when everybody's back at work
I've had about a month off for December before my final semester begins, but damn I want it to keep going.
I think I've made up my mind to leave my current ICU for a different one; not simply because I deserve to be paid more (assuming I get what I want) but because I want to prove to myself, that I'm beginning to change how complacent I tend to be with stable jobs and (lack of) relationships. Basically, I'm working harder to make myself uncomfortable so I get what I deserve, if that makes any sense.
Had to LOL on your subject title, so true! My gym is now in my basement, which I use 2-3X/week. Makes it so much easier...
For many of us, it's going to be something something Project car something something....
Personally, I don't normally do the resolution thing. I'm in about my 6th week of learning Spanish, so that's pretty new and I'm sure I will persist.
I got back into going to the gym a few months ago. Really starting to see some improvement. I'm not looking forward to a big influx of new people at my location tying up the equipment tomorrow. Just stay on the couch and have another doughnut.

Usually it's not for the new year but because my birthday is in 6 months, and I feel the need to make progress at something before I get officially older.
I spend the 1st couple weeks of the year trying to get people from seriously hurting themselves at the gym. The level of stupid is out of control, like skinny little dudes trying to bench 225 right out of the gate with zero spotter or form. Deadlift form that would make me blush.
But its nice to guess who is actually going to stick it out and then we help those people
No major personal goals but I would like to actually take vacations when I am off. Spent the last 10 days off sleeping 10+ hours a day catching up on sleep and playing video games instead of doing something fun. Need to fix that.

Took the kiddos out for a nice long bike ride today. I do need to get my fat butt back in the pool doing laps but it hasn't seemed to happen.

I have a friend who owns a fitness studio. She calls this "resolution season" and will make bank on the resolutioners.
I've been going to the gym pretty frequently for the past 4 years. It hasn't really changed much at new years, at least at my gym. We get some new people in January, but by February they are mostly gone.

And that's how you should look at it.
They pay for the year in January, soon give up, and subsidize the gym for us serious folks, keeping it at $10/month
No resolutions for me, but I am finally going through a bunch of my dad's photos to put into albums, throw away, or send to other family members. He passed away over 11 years ago. Taking it kind of slow. Today's goal is to make an album of our 1988 trip out west. About 15 rolls worth of prints from it found so far, from at least two, maybe three cameras.

Getting into fasting this year. I was able to lean on my metabolism + regular exercise for most of my life. Welp, my metabolism finally bit the dust so now I have to tighten up my diet.

I started about 4 months ago, been pretty regular. We go at 5am to avoid the rush, weve got a group of like 6 that show up every morning. The old timers said it gets real bad about 8 with the resolutioners and by the end of the week its down to half. They say a couple stragglers will make it to the end of January.
No resolutions for me, but I am working on some goal setting. Trying to figure out what sort of automotive and cycling goals are reasonable and attainable but lofty enough to stretch a little and be meaningful to achieve.
But that's just a thing I've been working on lately, not a New Year thing.
My hour walks dwindled as the weather got cold. Thought of using a treadmill at the gym but they make me dizzy and nausus for a while when i get off them. Suggestions?
I joined Crossfit which is like going to work. You meet the same people every day at the same time, your absence is noticed and you always compete for the best output. All that is very motivating and I have stuck with it longer than any other fitness idea I have had. Class sizes are very small and I plan to sign up early the next few weeks to ensure I do not get bumped by what we Catholics call the "C and E'ers" (Christmas and Easter)
Works out as a new years resolution, but I chose timing based on when my new baby would hopefully be sleeping though the night (first time last night ;) )
I will get a professional certification either in Data Analytics, or start down the Project Management track to set myself up for something good in the future.
I usually spend this time of year avoiding the gym lol. This year I'm moving and trying to organize/throw away E36 M3
I've got some goals for the coming year, but they're just new targets of things I was already working on.
(E.g. climb 2-3 times each week until I'm back to climbing V5.)

DW is trying something new this year by not going to work any more.
Same with PW.
Not that it'll actually be much of a difference. They normally start in January, we'll see if she actually sticks to it.
