There is this small, high end used car shop about 15 miles from my house. The usual fare for them is Lambos, Porsches, Bentleys and other sorts of cars like that.
I went by the shop last weekend and proclaimed to my wife "Look! they have a MR2!".

Have you almost died because you were too busy snooping in people's driveways/back yards for potential projects and nearly wrecked your car?
You might be GRM.
I live near DC and have gone around the beltway a good bit. Accordingly, exotics arent super uncommon. Ferraris, Lambos, a McLaren or two...
Heres the ones that I have gotten excited about.
A Yugo going down the highway on a cold winter's day.
A Bricklin. (used to have one)
A 2CV on the DC Beltway... I repeat... ON THE BELTWAY, where if you arent going fast you might get run over. The fastest 2CV's top speeds were aparrently around 70mph. THAT WAS A BRAVE BRAVE MAN.
I felt pretty GRM when I had to leave this note for my mechanic. (Although I wish to note that I felt great shame in bringing a car to a mechanic. Middle of the winter+blown brake line+no garage)
Two distinct times.
At one point I had an S52 swapped E30 AND a super clean '91 318is.
Another, I had both an NA track rat and an NC in the garage.
When you see a picture on TV or (in the old days) in the newspaper about some big event and you zone in on some car in the background. "Hey, what's that car?"
"Whoa - is that a square body crew cab dually?"

The best part of that note is the "almost". It adds just the right hint of uncertainty.
When you seem to have enough money to buy another project instead of finishing one of the ones you already have.
I know I belong here because I have collected some pretty weird projects over the years and the general consensus seems to be, Awesome!! A large majority of them aren't even cars.
SanFord. 66 years old. Bought 1100 miles away and drove it home. Support was never more than a post away.
The Jet Boat.
The Samurai through it's many changes.
The Gas Turbine.
The South Bend Lathe rebuild.
The Shamrock.
The Easy Rider.
And last but not least, the Bentley.
No matter what it is, no matter how crazy the idea, someone is going to be excited to read about it, and offer suggestions and support. And they aren't necessarily excited about the project, they are excited because you are excited and they want you to succeed. That makes this the best place on the entire internet to hang out.
I think Toyman! needs to win some type of award or man card or car guy merit badge.
I never put it all together - I'm impressed.
When loosecannon sends you the "X"brace from the motorcycle front suspension on the Pink P for your birthday....
In reply to Toyman! :
The lathe is gorgeous. I don't recall anything about the Bentley or the gas turbine. Have you posted anything about the turbine?
oh yea, and the tracked vehicle.
In reply to spitfirebill :
The Bentley. Part 1 https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/have-you-ever-bought-your-dream-car/198749/page1/
The Gas Turbine was 10 years ago. https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/build-projects-and-project-cars/the-next-project-gas-turbine-content/48381/page1/
The Easy Rider is next on the hit list. I paused that project to finish the Shamrock. Updates will be happening soon.
When you've bought cars from, and sold cars to the same GRM'er multiple times
When house hunting, you specify "No HOA" because of your car collection
When 2:1 is a low car:person ratio in your household
About a week after this was taken, my wife had to pry the keys out of my hand because I was "just going to look" at a cheap S2k that had popped up locally. At the time I owned every car in the photo, plus two more not pictured.
