From the same gov liquididation site....you can use it to scoop the zombies up on your way to the dock to get on your tug.
if I had the money... it would be nice to buy and turn into something you could live aboard comfortibly
I looked at a 96' tug 15 years ago. No engines and selling for scrap prices. I figured with the engine room included there was about 3000 sq feet of usable floor space. Add a much smaller engine and drive just to make it mobile. Tempting, other than the fact that it doesn't have a garage.
true.. you do not need to tow 50,000 tons if you are just going to live aboard. you might need to add some ballest though to make up for the lack of engines
The only thing cooler than a tugboat is a firefighting tugboat. "Stand by to repel boarders", hee hee hee
Let's see here. OP posts a vessel that's limited to coastal waters, requires massive amounts of fuel to function, and offers no real space for food storage/growing.
In conclusion, DrBoost is a zombie sympathizer.
well.. I would not take it across the atlantic.. but I have seen smaller (and less seaworthy) boats 100 miles out. I think (aside from the colour) something like that would be great for visiting the islands. You would need to paint it something lighter to avoid turning it into an oven in the caribbean sun

The problem with tugs is the hull shape. They're great for what they do, but they burn almost as many gallons per hour pushing themselves through the water as they do with a massive tow.
oh I know.. they have a severe case if "Displacement hull". They also have props that are designed to push a LOT of water slowly.. Power props as they call them.
It's all in the name of stability for what they do
in all reality, if you owned a tug, going faster just burns more fuel.. keep the speeds down and take your time

Yeah the range nearly doubles if you slow it down only 4 knots. Of course it'd take about a month to get there.

No, I just know that zombies aren't a threat. They are thwarted by the slightest breeze and are dumber than a box of rocks.
I ain't ascared!!
That would be awesome for going across Lake Michigan or any of the Great Lakes. Now only if we could figure out how to get a couple of cars on it. Couple of Europas and XR4Tis would really make that tug pop.
if I had a place to moor it.. and the money to fuel it up and bring it here... I would bid more than 150 for it
Why don't people every head to an island in Zombie movies? I watched an episode or two of the AMC zombie show, and these morons are sleeping int he open woods in tents. Hello? Find a small island, clear it of zombies, leave no boats laying around, and you should be much safer.

I imagine you often have a false sense of security in your decisions.
