My friends helped me finish my move yesterday. Afterwards we had pizza and beer, and we were all dozing by 10 PM. 13 years ago when I moved last we stayed up until 2 AM drinking. I decided this is the last move I do myself...

Weezer should only be used to promote new windows operating systems that support video play back.
Semi-sad and related side note, part of that deal was hatched because Pat really wanted a new Oddessey for his family. Which is actually cool when you think about it. Become a successful rocker, spend wisely then later in life become carefree mr. Mom cool dad.
August 1st, 1981... MTV went on air with the Buggles, Video Killed the Radio Star.
34 years ago today. Atleast Martha Quinn is still cute.
I got drunk last night at the bar down the road and then played video games until 330am this morning.
This thread definitely reminds me you're all a bunch of old farts

That's worse than when I heard Paradise City on the classic rock station.
That was one of the first CDs that I owned. Either Mom also had one or she dubbed off the songs she liked for the car.
As far as the music thing... shut your whore moufs. I have been a Maiden fan since I got a copy of their 4 song EP with Prowler on it. That was in 1978. NINETEEN SEVENTY berkeleyING EIGHT. Iron Maiden actually started in '75... making them ... a 40 year old band. GAK! They don't even play them on classic rock radio anymore. Now they are relegated to silly E36 M3 like Dee Snyder's House of Hair on Sirius.
The radio station I listened to in high school is now a classic rock station, so they're playing the same thing as always. And I'm still driving my first car.
So I'm not getting any older.

Back in High School, the classics stations were playing late 60's music.
Relative to right now, that would be mid 90's music.
The Jazz of the big band era (30's-45) is now the disco era in relative time.
My first well used car back in 1987 was 10 years old- and ancient as a '77.
Geez
I just got back from the Outer Banks where I vacationed as a kid, then lived as a college-student. Nothing makes you feel old like driving down the road and not recognizing a single thing, or heading to the previously-deserted areas and finding nothing but new houses.
Then my daughter says that she wanted to learn more about 9/11 because they didn't teach it in history class. Ugh.

I was about to say the same E36 M3 with Smashing Pumpkins

I was born that year and I'm almost ready for bifocals and my chin is getting some salt in its pepper.
Yesterday an army buddy of mine posted on FB that it was exactly 25 years ago that Saddam felt froggy and kicked off my adventure in the worlds biggest sandbox.
A quarter of a century! I still have (and wear) a pair of shorts I made out of the desert camo pants I wore.
One of the worst was taking The Wife's Fiat to get the windshield fixed. A girl asks if there is usually a girl driving it around. I saw yes and she tells me I'm so cool. She wishes her dad bought her one instead of a dumb Corolla.
during the first desert war … Jan of '91 ?
anyway I was sitting at a bar waiting for our league darts match to start, and the bartender (a cute young thing ) and I were watching "the war" on TV …
she was inthralled with the scenes … and I made some inane comment about how "my war" was plastered all over the TV on the nightly news …
her question of which war, brought out the fact of the VietNam conflict … her response " oh yeah, we studied that in history class" …
made me realize the huge gulf of age between us

At least cute young bartenders talk to you, I can wave hundred dollar bills at them and still not get a beer. The most I get is "Are you here to fix the cooler?"

But this station wasn't playing classics, they were playing new music when I was in school. Although come to think of it, they're now playing older music than they were then.
My mom's first car was an early MGB. When I was in high school, that would have been an OLD car. Five years ago, I was touring around in her 1990 Miata - and realized that it was as old then as the MGB would have been when I was in high school. I'm not sure if that illustrates how much automotive technology changed between the 60's and the 80's vs the 90's and 2010, or the staying power of the Miata, or my old fart quotient. Can't be the latter. But the sun sure shines off those grey highlights in my hair when I have the top down...

That's my point. Relative to classics back in HS, that era today would be after I got out of College.
So my era is more vintage than classic.
We don't think cars of the 90's are that old, but back in HS, a '65 something was old. I have a '73 GTV now that would be the relatively a mid 40's car in HS. For sure, that was an OLD car back then.
It's interesting that vintage racing has a cut off generally of '73. And that got going in the early 90's when that cut off was barely 20 years old. Considering the age of those cars, it's not that stunning that younger people may not be that interested in vintage racing these days.
My wife doesn't know who Thundercats are.
She also thought transformers was a "new" thing.
I remember watching starwars when it came out. Now it is classic...

Targa Newfoundland has changed their classifications recently. Classic Division now includes cars built in 1997.
