Making a separate listing for this since it seems like it would warrant it. This is a 3.38 ratio differential for an E46 BMW. It came from an automatic sedan if my memory serves (I pulled it at a junkyard), as the automatics have a different ratio rear end than the manual cars (3.07 IIRC). It has been on my convertible for the last 4 years or so- I got it and swapped it on when I was planning on taking the E46 to the challenge. But now that I'm not and am clearing out excess parts, I swapped the original diff back into the car so I don't have to shift it quite so quickly when driving it.
When I swapped it onto the car I filled it with Royal Purple 75w90.

Asking for a friend but will this swap into a E60?

I don't think it will. From what I can find the differential inside the housing is essentially the same- the limited slip conversion kits tend to say they're for both (and then some) but nothing I've seen indicates that the subframes that they attach to are the same (with the caveat that I've yet to find anything that explicitly says they aren't either).
In reply to Ashyukun (Robert) :
Cool. Looking at pictures they look similar mounting style. The E46 M3 looks different. Was hopping it would swap over.

I'm pretty certain that the E46 M3 does have a different rear subframe than the non-M's, but I don't know about the non-M diffs fitting into an E90... nothing I've found in searching has said anything about it, and I'd think if it were possible someone would have posted about doing the swap.
