I take the kids kayaking in the ocean and many times it's super glassy. With the rollers coming in I was thinking how awesome it would be to have a boat to rip around on the open sea.
my dad used to race rc boats in the 80's and I loved the sounds and smells as a kid. But while the gas stuff is awesome, it takes a lot of stuff. However, an electric boat would be possible because I wouldn't need anything other than a boat, radio and an extr battery or two.

I don't think you can get slow ones anymore. RC stuff has taken a massive leap.
I find this interesting. I used to run RC cars as a preteen. Having an RC boat seems like it might be fun in coordination with my real boat. Anchor out on a quiet cove and run the RC boat around while not having to worry about retrieval since....I'm in a boat.
Well, I thought they were all fast too until I saw some review video on one I was looking at. Very pedestrian.

My father in law has several ex-nitro boats that could probably be a good basis for a project. Plus numerous motors and stuff. one of them is pretty big, I think It's a Shockwave 36"

Hmmmm. Sure, send me some info and cost and I'll look at it! I'm more looking for a rtr deal as I want simple and dependable even if it isn't the best.
