I'm looking for a 4L80E for my new project. I'd like a good used unit or a core that I can rebuild. Preferably early 2000s vintage to match the 5.3 I'm going to bolt to it. Happy to pay cash, or I have a 4L60E that came complete with the 5.3 and is supposed to be good, with a stock truck converter; I'd throw this into a trade with cash if anybody wants it.
Just trying to learn, are all 4L80E the same or at least interchange ?
and if you are getting a junkyard one , what parts do you need to also pull that goes with the trans you pull ? Is there a matching control box etc ?
I have a 2005 Van with a 4.8 and 4L80E , its still OK , but you never know :)

There are differences in model years, most of them broadly interchange (2wd and 4wd have differences).
The GM ECM controls the trans, Holley and other aftermarket ECMs will also control it. In the case of my harness and ECM that were intended for a 4L60E, there are some wiring plug differences at the trans that I'll have to change, as well as reprogramming the ECM to match.

I might very well take you up on that! I did look at the place on Commonwealth a while back; they always have a lot of trucks and vans. I should mention that if you ever need shop access or tools, etc. you are welcome to come up here any time. I have a lift, welders, a lathe, etc..
I'm going to be trenching for conduit and installing it the next few days, it might be a bit before I'm ready to go pull one. I'll message you my phone number.
