This is gonna get a gm tailshaft and go into my gm v6 powered rx8 challenge car.  I'm trying to mix and match some parts.

Lemme know whatchu got!

Cmon yall.  Who's got a Mustang v8 t5?

I have one or three but given a new one is 2k now.... I would rather not sell.

So what are you brewing up? S10 or Fbody? Both require a the shift plate, shifter block, and tailshaft housing.

Like ranger said, I'm not selling mine, but I have some of the GM stuff, and need ford, for future plans!

mine is from a FlameChicken with the 3.8 in 1996. My limited research tells me it is a World Class T5 with the 60deg V6 bellhousing to engine bolt pattern (and hyd clutch) with the Ford trans to bell pattern. Input shaft is GM, and tail shaft as well. Unsure of gear ratio, but I've read it is as strong as the other World Class T5s, except a couple specialty ones.
would trade the GM spec stuff, or whole thing, if something of interest to me!
A T45 for 4.6,(5.4, 6.8 or V10) or any ford FE stick with bell housing... or 'bout any stick, as I have several plans. Or... I'm pretty easy.

Hmmm....  what I'm really after is the gear ratios.  They are much better in the Ford v8 stuff versus the 99 camaro v6 box I have in my rx8.

I wonder if I can just buy the gearsets and slap them into my trans?

I just learned something today!

1352 -260 fits the same applications, has a 300 lbft rating and uses an sbf bell housing.  This is for a 99 to 04 v6 mustang.

They are much cheaper to find as well (and newer).  The only downside for foxbody peeps is that it uses an electronic speedo setup (which I don't care about).

So, if you swap the tailshaft and speedo gear, it is identical to a 1990 to 1993 Ford V8 T5.

I believe one of these will work for my shenanigans.

Edit: the input shaft is about 1/2 inch longer and so is the bell.  Therefore your shifter would be 1/2 inch further back and might require driveshaft shortening.  None of that matters in my case.

5/8" difference. Altho you can retrofit the fox input shaft in a 3.35 box.

I had the feeling you had the same trans as me, in something interesting!

From some reading along the the way, the different gear ratios are drop in, but that is strictly internet lore, so definitely don't know for sure.

I'm hoping I can retrofit the gm 26 spline input shaft into the box (with the gm 60 deg bellhousing).

Yep.  Same trans.  I am going down this path because I have a vibration that I think might be trans related.  So, I was looking into what I can mix and match to get better ratios / stronger box / any upgraded.

The ratios are kinda E36 M3 in our gearboxes...

3.75 : 2.19 : 1.41 : 1.00 : 0.72

Ford standard ratios:

3.35 : 1.99 : 1.33 : 1.00 : 0.68

I'm an idiot.  Can't change the input shaft like that.  Obviously the gear need to mate with the existing countershaft.  Can't mix and match like that unless the same ratios.

Check the tooth count.  IIRC the Ford V8 input shafts have a 23 tooth gear and no Chevy gearset uses a 23 tooth input.

I have a 2.95 first gear Ford box but I'd really like a Chevy gearset because 7.25" clutches for Chevy are an order of magnitude cheaper than for Ford.  So I've been down this line of thought...

It's currently in pieces, probably some missing, and the input shaft has been machined down to fit a Mazda pilot bearing because I don't like the little thin bushing that you use when putting a Ford trans on a rotary.

Notice the fifth gear in the 2.3 trans.

My buddy added a Road race fifth to his 5.0 T-5, worked great.  Then we added one to our 2.3 T-5, we ended up with a ratio that ended between 3rd and 4th, not ideal for Road America.  Then I found this chart that showed the 2.3 T-5 has about the best ratios for our under powered car.

These are just the Mustang T-5's.  They are all just a bit different.

I actually want an even taller 5th gear.  I have a 4.1 dif in the car and can't go any taller.  With my t5 in it now (.74 5th), the engine is turning 3000 rpm at 75mph.  The 5.0 t5 would only bring that down to 2800.  I'd prefer even taller!

Also, the reverse image search from the pic you sent was from a few different ebay ads.  Are those your ebay ads?
