A friend has a 69 Cale Yarborough Cyclone w/ 390  and he says it overheats , its all original and does run/drive but he says it will overheat ,why is that happening ? I looked at it not running and told him Radiator is to small and shroud has about a 1/2 inch gap all around Radiator .after that info I gave him he says the shroud came off a small block " Chevy " 350 !! ?? Laughingly I said " That's NOT original to this car !! I had a 69 Cyclone CJ 428 and my Radiator was bigger .any help here thanks .

Not discounting wrong radiator shroud ,the stock cooling system is pretty good.

When I here "overheating" I ask going down the road or idling in traffic?

Then I ask does it boil over and loose fluid?

How hot is hot?

If it has the stock fan, engine off, spin the fan if it free spins replace the clutch.
