I've used them.  Wasn't a huge fan.  Lots of little pieces to fall in places you can't reach.  I'm sure they are good for something but for my uses I preferred a magnet.

Best I got for you is that I own some. Fine for welding something you can still get behind as you have the rectangle block to get out to release the clamp. I do not regret buying them just have yet to use them.

Wish I could be more of a help.

They are a great tool to teach you how your MIG weld puddle will contract as it cools. Some of my body guys use them, some hate them. With this kind of stuff it is all down to personal preference. In my opinion anything that helps with fit up is a net positive.

I know at one point I used them and somehow welded myself into the situation where one of the key stock pieces was trapped inside a rocker panel.

My experience was similar to this, but it has been a while (fortunately) since I've done that sort of work.

I use them. They're kind of a pain to use, and I wish the threads were just a little longer - but I do still use them.

I've used them for one project (welding on a section of roof where I wanted to clamp the sheet metal so the curves lined up) and they seemed to work fine. I haven't felt the need to dig them out for any project since.

I've used them too, the gap was wider than I wanted for thin material, but other than that they did the job of keeping the metal lined up and held in place. I agree with the others about them being fiddly.......I use magnets and clamps where I can instead.

I so want to buy a laser welder.....maybe one of these years.

Use cleco's and butt weld plates. Make your own. Buy these. Whatever.

I make custom shaped ones all the time. Otherwise you can leave little tabs on the panel using clecos and cut the little tabs off through the panel as you go. Million ways to do it.
