I have a NA Miata gas tank with about 5 gallons in it and it reaks. What do you do with it? "Hey Bevis you got a match?" :0) I do not think that is the answer. Waste treatment at the Dump?

Either talk to your county waste disposal, or shallow pan on hot days and let it evaporate. (Not to be done near anything flammable, just in case.)
A metal bucket and a match work if you are away from neighbors

kid in 5th grade would discuss us making our own gunpowder then we'd move on to gasoline discussions.
He told me evaporating a gallon of gas inside a room is equal to 2 sticks of dynamite. We considered it.
This is what kids would do prior to screens.

To burn down the shed?
No. That is a steel wall in the background. All this grass that has seeds that stick to your shoes, socks, pants and the Goats Horns weed that grows there. It is all gravel under it so it can not be mowed. I weed whipped it but it just sends up more seeds. Fire may be the only choice. I will need a longer garden hose. The gas in the tank could be poured into the pump sprayer that I bought to kill the weeds/grass with vinegar, salt, soap. Believe it or not that did not even faze the weeds! Man wouldnt that make dangerous flame thrower!
The best way to dispose of old gas that hasn't turned into varnish is to mix it with new gas. I'd mix in as many gallons of 93-octane as you can and then throw in a bottle of octane booster as well.
TIL that the the place by the land fill takes old gasoline for free. And it only had 5 gallons in the old tank. It was whiskey in color and the smell did not even come close to gas. :0P
