I have a NA 1.8 parts car.
As from the picture would it help to swap these air flow meters. I did a little inspection on mine. I removed it to repair a bracket. As from the second picture it has a area that looks a little bit fried?
The "newer" flow sensor would help with the breaking of the bracket. It is smaller and lighter. Does not have moving parts. I could splice in the connector from the parts car.. would the ECU function with new input? Or am I SOL
Not compatible, different signals. Years ago there was a doodad that would do the conversion but it's probably been off the market since the end of the 20th century because nobody actually wanted one. I think we finally tossed a couple that were in the back of the warehouse into the trash 10 years ago.
Fix the connections in the original.
That is the funny thing. It isn't loose or unsolder. I made a new bracket and seam sealed the cover back on. It warming up right now.
For the 1.6 to 1.8 engine swap. Are there any wires and such that you need from the doner car to do it?
Read the instructions on the FM website, that will probably answer a lot of questions.
Thanks. Never came across directions on there page. I was always looking a items to purchase.
In reply to MyMiatas :
If you look at the items for sale, there's an "instructions" tab. Here's the one for the 1.8 conversion kit. We used to have a high level set of notes as well, but it's worth spending the time to read the detailed instructions.

Some guy wrote a book called Miata Performance Projects that has a section on 1.8 swaps too.
I guess I could re read one of these
:)
Try that upper one for details on this swap. The lower is more general knowledge.
