Kids got a Switch for Christmas. Found WRC9 for $4 in the Nintendo store so I couldn't pass it up. Played WRC7 and Dirt Rally 2.0 on the Xbox 1, so I figured it wouldn't be that big of a stretch. On-off throttle and brake switches are frustrating, but other than that, it is a pretty entertaining little game.
So, anyone try it? Got any tips on control bindings?
Bought WRC 8-10.
Also bought the Hori switch PRO (not mini) wheel and pedals on sale at target. It was an odd sale I think due to it disappearing shortly after I bought it.
Switch has such low end graphics abilities that it is sometimes hard to drive but overall ridiculously fun. The switch seems to be able to handle the physics model though.
Well worth the $100 total price for 3 games and wheel and pedal setup.
Actually the poor visuals plus good physics brings back nostalgia for Grand Prix Legends game on my PC.
The controls are very difficult to figure out even with the wheel.
I did try it with the standard switch controller. Had to learn to drive with throttle and brake on the R stick then set the sensitivity and deadzone to big numbers and slowly reduced them until it got too twitchy. A hard game to play with controller.
Even with the wheel, on some rallys even in the replay I can see the car is nowhere near the edge of the track but the software/switch hardware combo thinks I did hit that rock over there and the car goes spinning off. I can't repeat those glitches, which is good. So I accept it as part of the game. If I wanted true simulation I would get back into PC sim racing. So good balance.
